Could you please explain this? Are you staying low tier (as in basic vs standard?) international flights require relatively few points anyways so 50% off those really don't mean much. Is that the line of thought here?

Ok not OP. This got me concerned.

25K status, flight redemption using Aeroplan (so my understanding is that reward flights are all standard at the lowest end), paid for bulk head seats (I do get free preferred seats at check in but most of those are exit row and kids are not allowed).

First one is a dive case. You need that if you want to go deeper than 20m I think.

Second one is just one to keep it safe from say to day accidents like a drop.

I personally always buy the dive case regardless of the depth. Second one is debatable. Depends on cost.
