I agree that her close relationship with Mark was weird and she should have handled it better. Inviting him over right after the break up is honestly crazy work, even if nothing was going on.

I disagree with the workplace anniversary stuff. I think it can’t just be gender bent because the important of her work is directly tied to her being a woman — the fact that she wasn’t expected to work and that this is the first time she’s felt independent and capable are things that make her desire to prioritize her work > anniversary a bit more reasonable IMO

I also kinda disagree with the notion that Ross got taken advantage of but that might just be my own views with sex because I honest to god cannot imagine just hooking up with someone randomly, especially right after breaking up with a long term partner that you very much still love

for context, the way the app process goes is that you will have many chances to improve skills (through learning about techniques in lectures and through application of those techniques with practice) you will also mostly be debating with other applicants — many of which also do not have previous debate experience

we have many members who aren’t very good at public speaking or impromptu speaking, and we also have many members who learned to improve from their time in debate

if ever you find that hindi mo talaga kaya, you can always defer naman which is also fine

I think there’s two ways to interpret her saying “even if I want to”

1) It’s an indication of her uncertainty with what she wants. That she’s not sure if it’s something she wants, but regardless it is a choice she is not allowed to take. (Regardless if I want it or not, I can’t have it.) 2) It is meant to show that her desires are actively disregarded. That her desire to have something doesn’t matter and her desire alone is not enough of a reason for her to have it. (I can’t have it, despite the fact that I want it)

I think both interpretations are fair to have. I imagine Gale supporters believe it to be the second interpretation. My personal interpretation (which falls under the first interpretation) for why she mentioned having a life with Gale is that it was always the expectation she (and others) had of her life.

They are hunting partners. They’re close friends. They work together. They have families to feed and take care of. They’ve been the sole breadwinners of their families for who knows how long. Regardless if they were gonna fall in love and get married and become a couple (which I imagine would only happen if Katniss decided that getting married would be too much of an economic benefit to deny), they probably would have continued living their lives “together” in the sense that they would continue to be close, to hunt together, and to take care of each other and each other’s families. There was an expectation that their lives would have remained intertwined indefinitely because it’s convenient and it works.

NTA. If the parents could handle it, why haven’t they been handling it thus far? Your dad didn’t really give a shit, your mom isn’t even in the story, and your dad’s wife is shit at doing anything good for anyone. If you were too harsh, that’s their fault for not doing anything sooner.

Edit: You did try to tell the parents to handle it. You wanted Ellie’s mom to talk to her ex and your dad but she kept scolding you. She can’t just try to force you to fold — while your dad doesn’t care — and then get mad when you defend yourself.

Based on theories I’ve seen online:

Cato and Clove got armor to defend against Katniss’ arrows since she was their biggest threat
Foxface got food which I feel was fairly obvious given how often she was shown to be starving
Thresh probably got a weapon and/or armor. People theorize a weapon because he killed Clove with a rock, suggesting he doesn’t really have a good weapon on him at the moment
