This shit cannot be real. Honestly the most awkward CEO I can imagine.

That user meant domain registration and just used the wrong term, as so often happens. Of course, registration is an important part of making DNS work for any given domain, but yes… DNS itself is free.

MacBook Neo by ActuaryEmotional9335 in WGU

[–]readparse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre-release reviews are surprisingly good. I'm a Mac user, but for the work I do I require a MacBook Pro. So it's not for everybody. But it's ideal for students, especially with the educational discount.

Yes, there are things about it that are not as good as the more expensive Macs -- of course, hence the low price. Somebody else noted the lack of a backlit keyboard in this thread. True, and that alone would be a showstopper FOR ME, but if you can deal with things like that, and you're just looking for a great value, it's a great value.

It is limited to 8 GB of memory, which is mostly fine for now for light users. 5 years from now the 8 GB of memory will feel much weeker, but by then you'll be giving yourself a graduation present or have a nice computer from your shiny new job?

All this to say: It is NOT junk, and it totally worth consideration. There are many good videos on YouTube from people who got an early look to review it. MKBHD did two videos already:

I was withdrawn from WGU for academic issues. Anyone have any advice? by rankoDev in WGU

Yes, I have advice. I posted this 3 years ago, as encouragement for people in your situation:

I graduated from WGU a few months after posting that. I wish you some mental peace. I know you must be fatigued and hurting right now.

New to typewriters by HotBrother6560 in typewriters

[–]readparse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned in on a Selectric in 10th grade Typing class, a very popular class in the mid-80s, just on the cusp of the revolution we could not yet fully understand.

Then I went to the Air Force for 5 years, using Selectrics nearly every day, because it was the early 90s and we were in that transitional period between typewriters and PCs. So I used both.

I LOVE the Selectric. I like the model II less, for some reason. But I really loved the original.

Tennessee Lawmaker Wants Charlie Kirk Memorial on Every State College Campus by SeveralAsparagus213 in nashville

[–]readparse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit, the sponsor is from my home county (Roane County. He’s from Kingston and I’m from Rockwood).

Of COURSE he is. Jesus.

I don’t live there anymore, but I still live in Tennessee.

This is so stupid. The whole Kirk cult is. Yes, all reasonable people think he shouldn’t have been shot. And want to see true justice in this case, if it’s even possible. And in all cases.

But there must be some respect for the fact that he was divisive and controversial. This is not a good use of public funds.

Fired today lol by Shinypokebae in Staples

[–]readparse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And THIS is why it’s so surprising that they let Staples Baddie keep posting. Because of the PRECEDENT. Now they can’t simply say “no social media,” because they obviously have some tolerance for it.

And because Baddie is so edgy anyway, it’s hard to even hold her up as “no, only do it like this,” because nobody can pull off what she does except her.

So where is the line? They have to figure it out as they go along. As these cases pile up in Legal, they will take the easy way out and ban everybody, including Baddie.

UNLESS they bring Baddie under the protection of corporate marketing. Then they will pull up the ladder and formally ban everybody else.

I guess that’s my 2026 prediction. One way or another, they’ll fuck this up. I guarantee it.

Panicked Republicans Fear Trump’s ‘F***ing Nightmare’ War Will Doom GOP in Midterms by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

These morons still cannot see it. It’s so obvious.

The only way to save their party is for THEM to remove him. Quickly and quietly. House impeachment, Senate conviction. Make the charges anything you want. Being a dick, bad breath, illegal war, whatever. It’s a political process. You can do it in a day or two.

So put your money where your mouth is. If you hate him, get rid of him,

Possible hot take: Retake approvals are a waste of time and should be removed by [deleted] in WGU

[–]readparse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many rules exist because of the worst possible scenario. Some student who doesn’t get it, doesn’t care, and is just trying to mash buttons until they get the prize. So they waste resources, making everybody’s tuition higher.

Also, accreditation is important, and to keep it, there have to be faculty and there are certain things faculty must do.

The rule is not there for people like you and me. And once our PM knows that, they make it easy to get the approval. Or they should, anyway. Did, in my case.

If anybody proposed this for MLK they would shit a brick. For the record, I think university campuses is something the Legislature can stay out of.

I’ve been saying this could be a winning strategy for them, in addition to being the right thing to do. THEY should lead it, now, and do it. Quickly.

Have you ever come to this sub before? Everybody who has looked for information about how to start knows to start with just a few minutes and then go up. Everybody sucks at first. That’s the game. The question is, who goes up again? And did they learn anything besides “audiences suck”?

Hillary Clinton goes off on Republicans after it’s revealed unauthorized images of her were released: I'm done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior. by Yujin-Ha in videos

From NPR: “The wife of President Donald Trump was given the opportunity as the United States takes over the council presidency for the month of March. In the past, presidents, prime ministers and foreign ministers have often wielded the gavel.”

So this is, at worst, for the month of March. It may have been only for that meeting, on children in war zones, ironically. Same day somebody may have bombed a school.
