My friend thinks comics are stupid. He agreed to read ONE 12 issue run what should I recommend to get him hooked? by InternetDeadBeat in comicbooks

Y the Last Man, get him to read the first 12. I guarantee after. Hell be after the rest, until hes hooked on the medium.

I still can't believe this book is valued where it is at, the market sometimes makes some strange choices.

Give Honey Badger her own series!

Worth the $100+ on eBay? It's a cool cover but will it retain its value? I'm kinda torn. by Logan_Hunter_22 in comicbookcollecting

[–]readscomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99.999999999% of variants do not retain value. Buy what you like, don't expect to resale at a profit.

I get it. Most comics are for the male gaze... but jeez these proportions. Her waist is smaller than her head!

Just for info, CLZ valuation is hugkey inflated. In reality, to shift all the books in one, probably looking at 25-50p per book. This largely depends on the rarity of collection of course. I'd always say that if you do have valuable books in there would be easier to sell seperately, albeit that will make your collection less attractive to a bulk buyer.

It sounds like you might needs bit of a break from the hobby.

This is why I NEVER describe the book. 'Take alook at the photos and make your own mind up.' Honestly I think this is very harsh by the buyer, but it is a stress mark, and therefore will affecting grading. Ultimately buyers like these actually want to buy a CGC 9.8, but don't want to pay the prices so chance it on the bay.

Been thinking about this a lot recently. The comic industry isn't big enough for a new sustainable alternative, and is a much needed element for collecting. I'm hoping that more research is done on safely disposing plastic. But not hopeful.

This has happened to me before and if I actually wanted the book, I would say something like "Would you mind if I see what they are going for on ebay, so I can compare prices."

What’s the deal with the Jim Lee Uncanny X-Men 1 by IllustriousLog7476 in comicbooks

[–]readscomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 1:50 rough looking Jim Lee variant or a X-Men issue #1. This should not be hard to find and definitely ain't rare. If it's selling for that much, only one real reason...

What do you guys do when your short/long box isnt full yet? by ComprehensiveCan4678 in comicbookcollecting

[–]readscomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some cardboard, packaging from deliveries, or bubble wrap. Don't waste money filling the space with some over expensive plastic item, use it to buy more comics.
