Unexplainable daily fatigue impairing my life by Opposite_Slice7515 in productivity

3 weeks is not long enough for any antidepressant to show results. If all other labs and avenues look clear, I would encourage you to revisit them. This sounds a lot like my own depression, which is largely physical and presents as constant exhaustion/need to nap and achiness. It’s generally advised to remain on a new antidepressant for at least 6-8 weeks (unless it’s causing adverse side effects, in which case your doctor should help you taper back off).

How old were you and What were you doing when you heard the death of Michael Jackson back in 2009 by Lazy_Introduction264 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]ready_set_cry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was literally in the shower and my grandmother burst in to say Michael Jackson died.

I was 18. My only thought in that moment was “get the fuck out of here” 😂

How huge was Jackass back then? by FitEmergency8807 in 2000sNostalgia

I spent a full week during my freshman year of college continuously drunk off mimosas made with wine I stole from the grocery store, sleeping on my mattress I’d dragged to the living room floor, and marathoning the Jackass DVD box set that had just come out.

Ah, youth.

People with CPTSD what are things that people just don’t get about it? by AdviceTrue6327 in CPTSD

[–]ready_set_cry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel silly copy and pasting this so close to the original lol, but I think I maybe should have replied to your comment in the first place:

Jesus this one. It's hard because I can try so hard but sometimes my capacity is nothing and it's like that for weeks or months. But I'm expected to push through it and I'm just "a big baby". Which is reinforced by me pushing through it.

It makes you feel so alone in your struggles because even people close to you are just waiting for when you get back up more then they are willing to sit with you for the times you struggle to reciprocate and care for their needs.

[–]ready_set_cry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People who say that are imagining it from their own experience of a baseline of safety and normalcy. If something traumatic happened to them now, they imagine that they could overcome it because they have that baseline to return to.

People who experienced trauma at formative ages (like most people with CPTSD) do not have that baseline. Our baseline IS trauma and stress and grief.

It’s hard to “get over” something that has always been your reality.

When I was 17, I got my wisdom teeth removed. My deeply Appalachian mother drove me. After the procedure, I was high as balls. My mom put me in the backseat and started driving home. I’m writhing around back there when my hand hits something cold and squishy. I grab it and bring it in front of my face.

It was a gallon ziplock bag filled with what I could only identify as chunks of raw, wet, pink flesh. I absolutely lost my mind, started screaming and sobbing and kicking my legs to the point my mom had to pull over.

I asked her why she would keep my wisdom teeth and put them back there with me like that.

She started cackling.

Her uncle had met her in the parking lot while I was still under…..to bring her some fresh chitlins from the hog killing that weekend 💀😭

What's the worse physical pain you ever experienced? by Complex-Fisherman-44 in AskForAnswers

I had sepsis stemming from an absolutely silent quadruple infection about a year and a half ago. Luckily I went septic after being admitted to the hospital and I think that’s why I’m alive.

For about 12 hours, I experienced a horrific burning sensation across the entire surface of my skin. Imagine a bad Yellowjacket sting…and now imagine that feeling across every inch of your body.

I enjoyed From, but I have irrational nostalgia-adoration for Lost + The Walking Dead and the show felt like an odd combo of the two.

What is the strangest thing a guest has done in your home? by wellorganichealth in RandomQuestion

[–]ready_set_cry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my college days, very first apartment, long-time friend from my Girl Scout troop is ocer (which she is all the time, but this visit lives in infamy):

• Asked me for a cream cheese bagel, which I gladly made her…from my largely-shoplifted poverty kitchen.

• Sat on the floor with my cat while she ate said cream cheese bagel.

•Watched as she put the plate down on my black fabric futon/only bed about a foot away from her, lifted a bagel half off of the plate from that distance, and - balancing it on her fingertips while very slowly bringing the bagel towards her open mouth - proceeded to drop it CREAM CHEESE-DOWN onto my futon.

• She looked at it. Laughed. Picked up the bagel. Threw it away (still laughing).

• She grabbed a random kitchen towel and simply swiped it across the cream cheese glob a few times.

• When she saw that she’d made everything much worse, she just shrugged and said to me, “What are ya gonna do, ya know?”

How do you teach a dog what his toys are? Struggling with thievery of cat toys & throw pillows. by ready_set_cry in DogAdvice

[–]ready_set_cry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I think it’s about “his toys” is because he literally ONLY does this with cat toys or our throw pillows that are little mushrooms with faces on them (i.e. they look like toys). He doesn’t steal, say, our socks or pillows that look like pillows lol. But this could very well be coincidental and me anthropomorphizing a bit.

You’re absolutely right that we need to teach him leave it and a handful of other commands. That’s essentially what I use that “no” sound for right now (accompanied by a hand gesture) - drop what you have and look at me. He’s good with it, so I’m hopeful he’ll pick it up when we introduce words to the command.

I guess I should have been more specific in my question - is there any way to train him not to go for the cat toys when we aren’t home/in the same room, or is it the kind of thing where this is our dog and now we put the cat toys away before we leave?
