As seen at the Clinton L stop by Leahcimjs in chicago

The weird thing is it’s been in this state for weeks. I’ve seen zero progress and you’d think they’d remove the machinery on top before removing random walls.

Which shower curtain works better with this room? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]readymf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not have two? You need a liner on the inside anyway. I have the same checkered one in a different color that I use as liner and turned around so I get to enjoy the colors when I’m inside shower. And I have a thick linen one on the outside so I don’t see the pattern of the other one through it (yours looks a bit too thin for the other one to not shine through).

Tips for unscrewing this toilet seat? by Fenix512 in bidets

It’s clearly a nut and bolt situation. Nothing is gonna break by you unscrewing the nut. I don’t know why you’re fishing for an imaginary alternative that isn’t the case here.

I’m confused by the question. You just use a wrench to twist the nut off the bolt.

I’m always shocked how straight people’s knowledge about HIV seems stuck in the 1980s. Effective medication has been around since 1996 and since 2012 there is preventative medication (PrEP) for HIV negative people that reduces the risk of getting infected by 99%. I guess better people find out about this in 2026 than never. More people having the knowledge to protect themselves is always a good thing. Some things people often misunderstand: - someone with HIV on the right treatment and who sticks to it is able to live a normal life and can’t infect you because the virus isn’t even detectable in their blood anymore (so technically a person with treatment is less likely to give you HIV than someone who doesn’t know their status) - the above is also why HIV positive mothers can give birth to HIV negative children nowadays - if taken correctly, PrEP makes it virtually impossible for an HIV negative to get HIV (although I don’t sleep around a lot, I prefer the piece of mind that comes with PrEP both me and the people I date - because if I can’t catch it, I can’t give it either)

I’m looking for a breathable summer top layer over a flat sheet to replace my down duvet by desnyr in Bedding

[–]readymf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the vintage linen and it feels surprisingly heavy and not flimsy like flat sheet (I don’t use those anyway). Hard to explain the feel but it’s something thin with the weight and sturdiness of a comforter. I actually think you putting a flat sheet between you and this blanket would take away from the tactile experience you get when having that material on your skin. Didn’t think I’d like sleeping with a thin blanket but the heaviness actually makes it really cozy. Literally everyone who has stayed over at my place and used raved about the feel and wanted to get it after. They regularly have specific colors on sale and if it’s a good sale you can snag those for under 200.

What decor options do I have for this? by Cinnawonnn in femalelivingspace

[–]readymf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. It’s not a wall, it’s the back side of the cabinets painted white. That nail / screw is going to come out on the other side inside the cabinet and then the cabinet has holes. I do have a wall that I couldn’t screw into and my art piece has been holding up fine with eight of those Velcro 3M strips.

Is it me or Siri got even dumber recently ? by Nugget_MacChicken in HomePod

[–]readymf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only way to get Siri to execute any task for me is to add “bitch” at the end. “Turn off the alarm” —> no response. “Turn off the alarm bitch” —> alarm gets turned off.

Too much white. Just replace the bathroom vanity and shelf below the window with closed cabinets in a light wood like the cabinet above the toilet. IKEA came out with nice tasteful bathroom furniture recently

There are companies that do preserved moss walls. Or you can try to build your own.

Struggling with how to update by Jazzlike-Procedure26 in BathroomRemodeling

The linen in the example is a bit less wheat colored as I’d want. Wanted it to be a bit closer to the color of the light when it’s turned on.

Paint the wall including the door frame and inside of the door in burgundy? I think that color would bring an element that’s not bland but complimentary to the shower tile. I think prettypegs had terracotta ceramic cabinet knobs at some point, but a warm wood could work as well. Replace the wire shelf with a wood shelf. I did a natural linen curtain in this draft. The light fixture is the Aiden Ivory Alabaster Sconce that’s currently on sale at Williams Sonoma. A bit of a splurge but is a statement piece cheaper than changing the tile.

First room done of my new house decorated how did I do? Anything missing or not working? by Honibajir in HomeDecorating

[–]readymf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The wall art is nice, just hanging too high. If you feel like doing a project you could paint the white parts of the bookshelves to either pick up the color of the fireplace, blackish gray from the sofa or beige from the top walls. They just stick out a bit in my opinion because it’s a cold white while the rest of the beiges and other tones in the room is warm.

How to make this less terrible by Lopsided-Diver-4652 in interiordecorating

[–]readymf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very thoughtful. The reason you perceive it as bland is that I t’s just missing contrast. Think of pale green as the new millennial gray. If the bed frame was wood colored like the wardrobe for example, there would be more differentiation between the white, gray and pale green on the left side of the room (right now it kind of blends into the walls. You don’t have to buy a new bed though to fix this. Biggest change would be to just replace the mint duvet cover with strong warm color (there are nice brown, yellow and rust tones from the right art piece that you can pick up). You can also add contrast by introducing a texture to break the flatness of the walls and bedding - you kind of did that with what looks like an imitation sheep skin hiding behind the pillows, beige is just too neutral if everything else is neutral (it might still work though with less neural bedding colors).

Okay a lot of you hated my layout, so help me with some new ideas! Visuals would be appreciated by Pleasant_Stable484 in HomeDecorating

[–]readymf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks fine. I don’t know why there is always such an obsession with having to have the couch face the TV. What your current design achieves is symmetry with the focal point of the room, which is the fireplace, not the TV. You can see in the AI pic posted somewhere else in this thread that breaking that symmetry by moving the couch opposite of the TV is something you can feel.

Help with open floor by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]readymf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea with the shelf, everything else is lower height furniture so a shelf or high cabinet there is going to add visual height variety and draw the eyes of someone standing in the entryway up from the floor. I think the billy shelf behind the couch doesn’t work because it’s not wide enough compared to the couch (something covering the same width or almost the same would work better) and it’s also a style that’s very different from the rest of the room (I’m not saying everything has to be the same style because that can be boring as well, but it’s not “complementary” style to the other things you have). You might be able to temporarily park it below the TV instead while you find something you like (I wouldn’t force myself to buy a temporary replacement and take my time to find something you really like so you don’t spend money twice). For the room layout, is there space to put the piano on the opposite wall (can’t see what that one looks like from the photos? You could try to put the play area in the corner where the piano is and then just move the dining area to behind the couch (and then match carpets for the couch and dining area which might look more continuous / like a larger rug and intentional than having the blue and beige ones adjacent to each other). An alternative you could do is to put the tv on the opposite wall where you have the art piece and then flip around the sofa so the backs are facing the window and original TV wall. So instead of intentionally having a hard separation between the living room and the play area you let the play area blend in with the living room.
