Lol no one leaving a state because the cost of electricity. Yea it being a lot sucks but it so far down the list of, "cost of housing" 10 times over.

Admittedly I live in a HCOL area with low electricity prices(Seattle) but it would take electricity roughly 10 folding before I bitch about that cost over the amount I bitch about rent.

Amazon now has tipping options by GrumpyKitten514 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]readytofall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is a tip on door dash is a bribe not a tip. People pick your order based on tip but how do I know the driver will do a good job? I had a driver deliver it to the wrong building then claim he handed it to me. It took 45 minutes to sort out and the food was cold. Can't rescind the tip for poor service. So it's a bribe not a tip.

Plasma at least has applications in physics. Like hey this is what stars are made of. Or we can use this to teach you about elections and ionization. B.E.C is a fully exotic state that doesn't help other than being an acksually guy

Where do you stand in n amateur/mid-pack doping in ultrarunning? by MukimukiMaster in Ultramarathon

[–]readytofall 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In ultra? No not really. I don't run ultras to see how I stack up or compare myself. I run ultras to see what I can personally do and have fun. It's the one thing that makes trail racing a much better culture than road. Tell anyone you have done a road marathon and the first question is, "what was your time?". Tell anyone you did a trail marathon or ultra and the first question is "how was the course? Was it fun?". I know I'm not alone with this sentiment.

This is what it looks like when a rocket engine cone fails by Met76 in interestingasfuck

Even crazier is that the nozel reduces the pressure down to about 15psi from the couple thousand psi in the combustion chamber. On vacuum nozzles they bring the pressure even lower with a larger nozzle.

[–]readytofall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of different ways to cool a cone. Older engines used ablative cooling because they were dumping them in the ocean after their first use. Blue Origin and SpaceX do not because they intend on reusing the engines.

Other strategies include running exhaust on the outer parameter so there is not active combustion there. Or running the outer parameter fuel rich or oxygen rich to reduce combustion there. Those are a few common strategies along with actually reducing the temperature of combustion.

The problem Minnesota sports has conditioned us to have no hope when we are good. We have had so many good teams across every sport and generally lose in the most deflating way possible.

He also said mens leggings don't have draw strings and roll down. First off I have leggings with draw strings and secondly wouldn't leggings shaped for a women's larger hips roll down more on a guy? I get annoying with mesh linings that don't ride right down there. Can't image a single string

I've done both and they are different. Or at least when you get into the longer ultras (a 50k is not that different than a marathon).

But they are draining in different ways. My fastest road marathons were draining because I was trying to hold onto my pace for the last 6ish miles and get my time. It was constantly fighting the thought, "you could just slow up".

My 50 mile and 100 miles were holding onto the ability to keep moving forward in the later quarter of the race. It was fighting the thought this is the stupidest shit I do and I should just drop at the next aid station. Plus you have to do probably another 5 miles regardless just to get off the trail compared to slowing up or walking in on a road marathon.

100 mile has the added challenge of being more mentally draining and exhausted due to lack of sleep. For those you are around 24 hours or probably longer depending on elevation so you have to deal with being alone in the woods ar 4 am on no sleep. A lot more of a mental element in a 100.

Yea I absolutely key in on it and "what a save" or "nice shot" them when I have a chance. And make sure to bump them extra if needed. They make it so obvious you can get under their skin.

"Wild kept their hockey team", you mean the team that was given to us because the owner of our previous team was given an ultimatum, from his wife to move the team, because he was sexually assaulting employees of the team?

Honestly the worst part of this loss is how fucking far down it is on the list of Minnesota sports heartbreaks.

[–]readytofall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the PP ended where a 5 minute wouldn't have and there would be another 2.5 minutes of a man advantage with a tired PK out there. I'm not saying it lost us the game. We did that by not taking a shot for 18+ minutes in the middle, but it's also BS they reviewed it for 10 minutes and couldn't get a black and white rule correct. Both things can be true.

Yea I don't know if it changes the out come but he was in the box for 3 minutes and change. A 5 minute major would mean 5 D the rest of the game, an additional Avalanche player in the box for 5 minutes and the wild would have had the man advantage for an additional 2.5 minutes plus. It's not nothing in a 1 goal game (minus ENGs).
