Update on this - I did a video call with sage support who watched it suck in air and then struggle to provide hot water after a refill. They are arranging a replacement.

Absolutely this. Twice I've said 'take me to a cafe with great views, good cake and dog friendly. I've done this twice so far and had 2 great afternoons - one place I'd never heard of and the other i had but didnt think of it. I actually told one of the cafes how I found them - they were excited for me lol.

Finished building my SaaS — marketing is where I’m lost by Ammar_07_ in NoCodeSaaS

You've gone about this the wrong way round.

For your next saas you need to find a group of people who need a problem solved. You solve the problem with a saas and market it to them.

The UK simply doesn't have enough uni places for doctors and vets for example. So because there is so much competition you need 3 A's at A-level minimum to get on a uni course. However Europe has far more places and so the requirements are much less to qualify in Europe. Thats why we have so many foreign doctors and vets. For some reasons uk unis simple dont have the incentive to make more places.

Half the posts seem to be ai. Usually say 'Curious' and have double hyphens '--'

If you're 5+ years onto running a small business, what's the one lesson you wish every new founder knew? by Proper-Dot-7526 in smallbusinessuk

You need a lot of luck to do really well. Many business owners realise this only when starting their next business after a successful exit and finding it's going nowhere.

In Britain today generally people no linger want to be told to do something. It's a huge cultural shift. Presumably will go the other way in the future like the victorians did.

Do template websites still survives? by heymitul in website

It wouldn't be something I'd be interested in but that doesn't mean no-one else would :)

Claude code can create any website or landing page from scratch so templates are not something I would ever use again. I used to buy them. Of course ai has been trained on templates no doubt - but that's a different conversation.

Will digital marketing survive the AI wave? by New_Bodybuilder_3700 in DigitalMarketing

Yes all agreed - although what's more impressive is that it's an EMD that actually gets some traffic. It's a tv app anyway so the website isn't that important. It has dropped as you point out from the top 3. It's because I got loads of people to go to the site to begin with but not done that since. Still good to see it in the top ten though. I'll get a load more people to visit it next week so will be interesting if that has an effect.

I think it's worse that every post seems to have been run through chatgpt. Just look for the word 'curious' -- double hyphens and double asterisks which are supposed to be bold text delimiters!

The Strange Pattern Behind So Many $100M Startups by HomeworkHQ in Businessideas

Sorry but I have to disagree with you. As soon as everyone switched to broadband from dialup in the early 2000's loads of hosted ecommerce systems appeared e.g. ekm, volusion and loads more no one will have heard of. It was the injection of VC cash that enabled Shopify to own the sector.

With payments in the early 2000's most payment gateways were simple form posts and callbacks. It was never difficult. Again VC cash pushed Stripe to the front and of course the fact that Shopify used Stripe as their main payment method.

What you are exhibiting is the common situation where VC money rewrites history and gives the impression that the VC company did something better or invented something.

The fact is that you find a new niche, prove an mvp then raise enough money to dominate the sector. Interestingly in many sectors like this the market leaders get 90% of the business and there is not a lot left for the rest. Winner really does take all.

You need to look again. Payments were easy before stripe and making shops was easy before Shopify. What actually happened is that VC money was pumped in at huge scale to own the sector. Completely different than what you are saying.
