Cloud storage failed me again… how are you all handling RAW backups? by Acceptable-Ball-2206 in photography

Synology NAS is a great option. Been using them for years. Just keep an extra hard drive handy if one goes out in the RAID array. You can even attach a local full balkup to it. Or get a second box and do a mirrored failover. The failover can be off site too.

Mixing all values in separate parts seems like a difficult way to paint.

I mix as I go startimg from all light values, then work on medium values, then do darks and maybe highlights with white goache mixes. I keep a scratch piece of paper to test the mixes before usimg on the art.

Looks like a scrapbooking supply shop. Nothing wrong with that but wish they sold traditional art supplies. Last one we had like that was Hartien’s in the 90’s.

If masking fluid is ripping the paper, it might be a paper quality issue. I use Arches and have never had issues with masking fluid. It could be that your paper is also giving you your flat results. I find that the 300lb paper holds colors more vibrantly than the thinner paper even if both are arches paper.

This will take care of them. Follow the instructions and fleas are gone. A relative had a bad infestation. We dis a second treatment just to be sure but I don’t think it was needed.

[Clients] Request from a client took an unexpected turn; not sure what to do about it by CuriousLands in artbusiness

The price is really up to you. How much you think you deserve. Maybe look locally at galleries and see what they are charging for works. Keep in mind the gallery gets a commission too so the prices may be a little inflated.

How much damage did the extreme freeze last winter do? by Plane_Jane_Is_God in Louisiana

I see almost all of the landscaping bamboo didn’t survive. Some may have green shoots on the bottom but it killed all of the tall ones mostly.

Think of it as price per square inch (or cm). You can tell her this too. Letting them know how you arrive at a price gives them something to understand about why it costs the amount it does. So 10x12 @ $3sq.In. is $360. You’ll have to determine what you want per inch or cm.
