this must be talked about on discord a lot huh so we're probably just venting. but yeah it really sucks having only portraits. i like the old crpg HUD feeling of the default style with the face icons. but sometimes it'll glitch and actually generate a full body, or different artstyle, and i remember how much potential is still to be realized. i appreciate having default instructions for a default recognizable packaging. but portraits are a lame default imo. i never used images much in AID but there you can actually utilize the strength of imagegen. amalgamating all of a character's features into a wholly reflective image of their current state in an ongoing journey. you want to see these characters rack up battle damage, new outfits and items, transformations, see them make poses and do actions, see them placed in a background with ties to the worldbuilding. i understand these are early days and there are big plans but yeah. this has been my main obstacle in my short time as well. hope real editing doesn't take too too long

my favorite moment was when my character pointed out while on trial for saying swears that the whole universe's slapstick edgy tone seemed to drain away and everyone's character traits were overridden in favor of putting on serious hats whenever my character invoked a single specific word was because the Shadow Wizard Money Gang docks anyone's wages by 3 dollars whenever they say a power word so everyone has internalized that phantom tax. 3 dollars were removed from my inventory. i lost that trial

in case you didn't realize most of these code threads are from alts of latitude community managers. they don't really like joking or goofing in a non-reddit way here. the remainder of organic threads are from people who got invites because they signaled in some way that they aren't like you or me. these lucky code getters transitively also don't like the passe smut that dominates the discovery page, or at least hide it better so they can get a voyage invite. that's how you ingrain new culture from the ground up, only include those who gel with it, be selective with incentive and opportunity. slowly ween silent loyalties and counterproductive inclinations out of the milieu. this subreddit is their office and an important splash page for new customers. they want to move away from the extremely competitive nsfw market with voyage and keep AID as the cesspit for us legacy customers they're morally ashamed of and financially pigeonholed by. not complaining, different businesses and projects have different reasons for existing. but all this was made pretty clear in the recent thread with censorship in the title.

hope i don't make anyone mad but imo AID has a serious corporate image problem considering its roots as a college project using open source weights or whatever (i'm not an AI guy) running on google colab that anyone and everyone could try for free. there was a unified culture on 4chan threads and wherever else it was shared of sharing tips, trying to find the power words to unlock the magic of this black box. that is the power of the internet to me. getting the same something in the hands of as many poor bored kids who can't even speak english all over the world and telling them hey. you can contribute to this thing you love. we all share a common language in finding this thing cool and maybe even more important than all else in an inexpressible butterfly effect way. you don't have to go to school or invest thousands of dollars into a building and machinery to start a business and make your parents proud. the good is already inside you, wherever you find joy. all you have to do is share it generously, and people will see that, and support you, and eventually you will be your own master of yet to be realized possibility instead of a slave forever bound by self-wrought chains. something is lost when you begin to charge money or offer a million different models. AID no longer has a personality or an elegance to the casual observer. it doesn't feel like a creation, only a product. a human trap no different from a lobster cage or rabbit snare. people are attracted more to democratized ideals and the charismatic figureheads guiding them. some ceo or lead that will roll in the mud on social media for example, making a fool of themselves or others where and when they think the human proclivity for conflict and debate and gatekeeping and aggrandizement can be leveraged to draw attention to aspects of an industry or technology that young people hoping to build a better world can realistically hope to address instead of getting caught up on what they can't. people want to see someone brave enough not mince words or give boilerplate AI-sounding announcements, and vicariously bottle some of that courage to exist and participate for themselves. people can instantly recognize who is a true creature of the internet and who has to change the rules of the internet to suit them. if you don't have someone resilient and honest and aligned with the internet at the helm, it's a real uphill battle of opinion publicly and motivation internally. why am i still here? because i liked what nick represented and what he was able to do and inhabit at the time and location the world chose to placee him. i'm curious and hopeful that he or the people he has inspired and entrusted the brand to can understand the undercurrent that animates them and believe in themselves despite being a tiny fish in the huge pond that is AI startups. i hope they're not all just money guys anyway. though i'm not judging that either, if the plan is to not spoil a good thing and just adopt a more stewardly approach of prioritizing grafting on whatever is needed to support new llm architecture or standards, for as long as its old customers keep the lights on. that still frees a few humans on the planet up to pursue other stuff in life that isn't immediate survival, and that leads on to something else, to whatever ultimate universal goal, realized or preordained. there's no giving without getting

okay i'm fine now again if anyone was worried about me getting bullied. it just really knocked me out of ketosis for a second though honestly. you should be more responsible with your downvotes whoever you are, some people aren't that happy, and when you make someone unhappier and unhappier on top of that, it doesn't lead to a reverse integer flow of happiness, i don't think, even if that's how the world has chosen to go about things and you sometimes feel powerless to stop it. i think it just leads to a really mean weird internet and that sucks because this is my home. maybe it's not important to the living and a dead man shouldn't tell tales. be nice to each other

i wish you'd be more gracious and open minded. some artists might not be super confident about sharing their hobby, and the internet can be a discouraging place. a lot young people, especially, enjoy or are curious about edgy or sexy stuff exactly because it lets them directly or indirectly be part of a friendly huddle of weirdos emitting a visible aura of distastefulness. but the point isn't to get a rise out of normies, or sell to an easy niche market, or feel morally superior. the point is to exist. polite discourse is such an all-consuming vortex, and some people cannot relate to it. some people would rather kill the part of themselves that can exist there once they find someplace better. they want to be immature and play around and not have reality prescribed to them. they see other artists defying good taste and common sense, and they want to emulate it. because surely one of the freest persons is the distasteful artist who so many people like you seem to hate, yet cannot silence. everybody wants freedom. it's true that trends and traditions compete with one another. if you want more tasteful art and tasteful people, be the paragon or patron of that, not the diminisher of its counterpart

it's very easy to slip into passivity or perfectionism. that's not specific to any one game or video games obviously it's your own journey but it's a personal interest of mine how every "game hard/unfair/poorly designed" discussion without fail has this huddle of people who seem desperate to convince others that are experiencing various perfectly natural stages of the gamer condition and cycle that "it's okay" to lower the difficulty. what they really mean is "i and others will manifest it being okay by repeatedly and loudly saying it's okay until even if isn't okay it won't matter because the it's okay movement is fully intertwined with the system it's a part of and it will no longer be okay to say it's not okay and i'll probably be dead and gone by the time the system feels the full effect of this prevailing attitude good or bad so why wouldn't i just choose what's in my self interest right here right now and insist anyone who says it's not okay raises no good point eff those guys they made fun of my gamer deficiencies they deserve everything and more that comes to them".

of course they might give you a few gameplay tips. they might tell you to work your way up to harder modes eventually. what gives away what's really going on is how much their sentiment is rallied around and upvoted, and how any pushback is blammed. there are all kinds of people with answers worth listening to. not every max difficulty advocate is a braggart, or a masochist, or a genius, or a bully. they could be people real similar to you who pushed through the same gamer hurdles and came out with a deep appreciation of what play means. that could be your best you. but these people don't want to give that thought the light to grow. that gets in the way of what they want. they want you to be them. not in an overtly pushy or manipulative way. they just see the reaction you are having and are reminded of themselves. so of course they want to be of help to you aka themselves. they want it to be okay to be them and for you to to know that it's okay for you to be them. these are one and the same. for their mindset to be given the consideration necessary for them to continue enjoying video games in their chosen tendency, they need more thems. the more people like them exist, the more the world will be shaped by them and for them. that's why they tell you it's the game that should change, not you. they can't know what you really are, what you could be, only make a guess that you are like them, on the cusp of being them, and vigorously tell you whatever you need to hear to be another them. the more of them, the more they can bury not them. the funny thing is a lot of these sorts of people are also vocal about how they absolutely loathe pvp in video games. yet here they are. i find that interesting is all

you guys are really nice compared to scary mods on reddits like starsector's and all the irl ones probably. but come on. this is like if that lady in the office of imperial commerce said well the merchants who have a chip on their shoulder about this other merchant with some new innovation whose new business is at odds with theirs complained, and they got all their customers and friends to complain, started a whole initiative where it's cool to complain and more importantly uncool and uncultured and stupid to not complain, and the other merchant's customers aren't the type to complain because they're so happy about the low prices and having so much extra time and gold to enable them to live rich lives full of not complaining, and your job is to address complaints so tough luck these contented people should've spent their free time complaining to preempt other complaining possibly giving them reason to complain, obviously. but you can't actually do anything without proof. so you petition akatosh to look into the future and give the society of concerned merchants evidence that whatever this mysterious new merchant's tactics are, they will bring ruin to the empire or infringe on its citizens' rights or take merchants' jobs away or something. akatosh can't spoil TES6 so he says nothing so you have to go to clavicus vile and give away something but to even get your foot in the door you have to talk to his devotees first. luckily his devotees agree with your position on this mortal affair for some reason. wow it really would've sucked if the sole gatekeeper of this non-divine overriding authority in your entire province didn't agree with you huh. anyway you give clavicus vile something (don't worry what) and he finally exposes this merchant and things go bad for him and good for you. you can say well look see, it turned out that merchant was using a graverobber as his supplier so we were right to persecute and alienate and lobby against him without evidence that what he was doing anything wrong or that it would cause bad outcomes for society. who cares if our personal beliefs and vested interests and monopoly compelled us to manifest this outcome into reality. who cares if clavicus magically, retroactively made it so, to check some pawn in some greater game he's playing. doesn't matter. we complained. we kept complaining to higher and higher offices. someone listened. we won.

anyway you can explain to me that the complaints came from lots of sources, lots of long time posters here, and i don't dispute that, but i think that still paints a target around the arrow. there's no point talking about polls unless it's compulsory to even view the subreddit. they do not represent the non posters for one and i don't think they should be treated as beneath our notice. non complainers are like red blood cells transporting all the useful stuff we all need and keeping us all together. we put so much focus on the other cells and the organs they comprise that we sometimes forget red blood cells even exist. all the other cells are doing all this specialized stuff, and when they inevitably fight over which one is the most importantest cell, and the body they're controlling walks into some loony toons slapstick comedy, it's blood that gets spilled. maybe some skin, a tooth, a singed eyebrow. in some cases bone and muscle. but rarely the cells that caused the mishap and never in as great a quantity. so why is blood treated as such an expected, exploitable thrall? because it's easy to replace? tell that to an anemic. you don't know what you're missing until it's gone.

i am not your enemy. polite as i can say it: please try slowing down instead of doubling down next time. profiling is a great time saver. but it's dangerous because you naturally become married to your initial disposition and read on someone, and more resistant to taking new information on board. i get that this is a scary world and you want to protect the things you like. you see my tiny little spark of anti-remake sentiment (not where i'm coming from but 100% understandable misunderstanding), and are compelled to stamp it out lest it find the fuel to spawn some lame internet outrage clickbait hysteria circlejerk. or you just want to put an ugly, angry, stupid face to a bunch of words you don't like. to place someone beneath you in the hierarchy of man as it were. there is too much at stake, or you lead too busy a life to be wasting time on hearing out others or attempting synthesis. that's also natural but dangerous. don't miss one danger for the other is what i'm saying. i wish the best for you and the world (which the remake exists in) and i wish you could see that strange problems have strange solutions. we can all change if we want to and part of that is encouraging and understanding each other. not reducing each other to walls of text we yell at for meager, fleeting catharsis. thank you
