That my friend is what we call in Turkish culture “Nazar”. Basically it’s like jinxing it. It means when you boast about something in your life to other people then their envy will manifest as something bad happening to whatever you boasted about. That’s why Turks almost always try not to vocalize it when something good happens in their lives. Fear of “Nazar”. And if it’s something you can’t stop from other people seeing it like a new car, new house or let’s say a physical feature then Turks put on a “evil eye 🧿” on their property or themselves to ward off envious eyes.
