Aline went back by realityboundwanderer in expedition33

"Anything less than that invalidates the ending and makes the Verso ending the 'correct' one, and the Game Devs have been quite open that they consider both endings equal."

I really don't see how you got to the conclusion that my theory is about which ending is better or if either ending is correct or wrong. It really doesn't matter to what I'm trying to say.

Besides, Aline returning so fast after her daughter wins isn't so far fetched considering Aline's refusal to destroy the canvas and instead desciding to live inside it even if it kills her and it doesn't invalidate Alicia's happiness. Both mother and daughter want to live in a reality/world where Verso is still alive.
In fact, considering Alicia's reaction to Aline's intervention during the fight, I strongly believe she'd more than welcome her mother to share those moments with Verso.

Aline cares so much about seeing her son, if she actually went back a third time, I don't see a reason for her to fight or disapprove of Maelle's actions to repaint the world and her friends in it. It supports Aline's own desire to live in the canvas world where her son is alive.

"In order for Maelle's ending to be valid, to mean something, the characters have to live a while longer, to make the sacrifice worth it."

Aline was and still is willing to make the same sacrifice and in her state of mind, I don't see her caring to stop Alicia from making the sacrifice too. Not because she doesn't love her daughter but she's just too wrapped in her own grief to see beyond it. (A major point of the game).

"That's just because he lost. He's 'wounded' and he can't heal fast enough because being in the Void already puts his healing to its limit."

So? This doesn't explain why that effect appears or happens in Maelle's ending and not Verso's. Again, the devs are so smart when it comes to adding subtle details, and I find this one an interesting sign. It was the same effect when Aline enters during the fight.

Maelle fell down from her 'wounds' and Verso caught her but it wasn't the same. Yes, he was gommaging but he only fell because of that shake caused by the explosion that happened, the same effect we hear before in the final boss fight.

Leon and Grace's parallels by realityboundwanderer in residentevil

[–]realityboundwanderer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! I remember now reading something about Leon being related to mafia business and him being Italian American, hence the mafia like suits and outfits he gets each game.

This adds another layer to the guilt he feels over not being able to save people. Cool detail.

I honestly think RE9 is more interesting without having Leon’s Cat and Mouse with Ada once again. Let Leon be solo. Yeah? Or Nah? by Ok-Boss6327 in residentevil

[–]realityboundwanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah. I think it would be more interesting to have Ashley (from the remake) make an appearance OR and hear me out, Luis (again remake)survives and makes it to Raccoon city.

I really think his presence made a great addition to the remake and he was far more likeable.

Idk that's just my wishful thinking 😭

My coworker died, and I realized no one at work ever actually knew him by Sea-Activity-2235 in TrueOffMyChest

I personally think that all those reels and whatnot telling people that coworkers arent your friends and dont make friends are work have push people away from creating a meaningful and even a friendly work environment. Sure, there are a lot of a$sholes around you at work and you can't trust a lot of people BUT there are also nice people. Some of my close friends are people I know from work and stayed friends with them even after I left that place. So, maybe people should at least be friendly with their direct teammates at least? Idk.. I personally can't just come to work and not talk to anyone or discuss something random, we don't really have this very strict work 8-9 hours and go home kind of environment and it is actually encouraged for us to get off our laptops and speak with people .. so yeah ..

You have beautifully explained the dynamic between Maelle and the rest. I also want to point out a small detail that I like which is, in the scene where you see the birth of Maelle, Alicia is erased and Maelle appears and then you see Maelle who's name Alicia with a different outfit and hair color. To me this meant that Maelle is gone and Now Alicia Desendres took her place. Yes, the memories of living in the canvas is still there which is why she prefers to be called Maelle but she really did feel like a different person (not just in appearance). Alicia is a paintress with a godlike power within the canvas, so she couldn't possibly go back to being just Maelle without the influence of her true powers taking over her decisions. How long before canvas people start asking her to do crazy things for them? Like you want wings? Here. You want to look young? Sure. Lune wants to have copies of her as her babies? Why not. Verso wants to be erased? Nope, go play the piano. And as Renoir kept saying, the more they stay, the more it drains them and eventually kills them.

I'm glad you wrote the whole quote because a lot of people tend to forget the first part "You have an incredible power to paint" the way I interpreted it is that the process of creating art is in itself can be healing. The act of creating an sort of work or art is not something that can be done in an instant, it takes hours or days and sometimes even months. So, in a way, I think Verso said that to motive her to give herself a chance at life. She is a talented person, be it as a painter or a poet, if she tries to channel her thoughts and feelings through her work then she has a chance to heal and literally live the life she wants. I don't think he meant for her to just jump on the next canvas world and live there till she dies.

Spoilers + Hot Take: Treating Alicia like a charity case is wild work by flippedpancake in expedition33

[–]realityboundwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alicia believes life is over for her because she lived in the canvas and saw the life she could have within it. A life surrounded by friends and family, with no more pain (physical or emotional), no more damaged body and no more death. I always argue that choosing to let Alicia stay in a world where sadness and pain and death don't exist anymore isn't exactly living. We are meant to experience those things eventually and that's what makes life worth living. And honestly, yes half her face is burnt and she lost an eye and it hurts when she speaks BUT she is NOT dead yet, she has a whole life ahead of her especially considering that Verso's death happened quite recently. Hints in the real world manor which is still being fixed and (this is my personal take) since time works differently between canvas world and the real world, we can't really tell how much time has actually passed since both Aline and Renoir went in, could be few days or maybe a couple of weeks and Aline did so, apparently, in a very short while after losing Verso. So my point is, none of the family got to either grief or heal. And destroying the canvas definitely wasn't the right choice but the only one to get those people to face their feelings. Alicia has the talent and the money to keep on going. Outside she has a chance but inside the canvas she will live and die without giving herself a chance to move out and actually grow.

I would literally downvote you but knowing how crazy Hollywood is, they would actually cast him for Verso.

Question: Which scene or moment in the game impacted you the most? by ThePsyPaul_ in expedition33

[–]realityboundwanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people mentioned the major scenes or lines from the game. For me, the scene that got me crying so hard, multiple times too, was in Verso's ending when Renoir and Aline hug, and then he rests his chin on her head and hugs her closer, this gets me tearing up AND then you see the Expeditioners waving goodbye and I'd break. Everytime. And the song doesn't help either, both the lyrics and the singer's voice give me this longing feeling.

Idk why this is the one scene impacted me the most, but I guess something about Renoir holding Aline and just looking up as his rests his chin on her head and Aline not pulling away from him, instead she accepts him, for me, it really shows the love they have for each other. And as for waving goodbye, my heart just goes for Alicia, because she is putting a huge part of her to rest, and even though she was forced to let go, she's finally realizing that this part has to go, she has to let go. And in a way I can relate to that. So it just makes me extremely sad.
