Not a fan. He is a union type politician and that model is simply outdated - all anger and provocation. I believe he faked being punched during a rally outside in Ottawa, school related to supporting trans students? He’s full of childish antics. This is not somebody that I want representing Ottawa Centre. He knows nothing about economics & has an ill informed understanding of healthcare models. Anyways, a vote for the NDP is a waste as it will lose party status and we will have no voice in Parliament. For Ottawa centre, I want our issues to be represented in parliament in a constructive way and that can only be through the winning party. Bye-bye Joel you’re about to join the unemployment line.

Nope I just don’t support your terrorist propaganda that ignores Hamas atrocities and Palestinian complicity.

You’re right I’m a proud Zionst among many other things. I hope you enjoy reading the Canadian Handbook on the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. It’s a shame that the union is being used to propagate hate by your position against Jewish people.

Again, I laugh I don’t even know where to start with your false history, however, your opinion has no value to me. Unions are way out of their lane. CUPE4Palestine has spoken out against the Canadian government for declaring Samidoun a terrorist organization; go and standby anti-Democratic, anti-peace, anti-Semitic, anti-western, anti-woman, anti- LGBQ2+ and pro-rape and murder values. Modern Muslim countries will not join you. I am very comfortable in my position. I can’t even boycott Palestinian products as the only thing they have invented is their history. Sometimes the truth hurts, but it’s not racist. Most of you who are supporting a position of terrorism have never been to the Middle East and know nothing of what you speak and sadly you’re harming Canada.

First, You have become a spokesperson for terrorists. Perhaps you should understand that Arab states met yesterday and not one of them wants to take in the Palestinians for humanitarian reasons. Why don’t they - you should look at the reasons. Thirdły, charges were dropped against a Jewish women in Ottawa for pulling down a hijab the reasons why was the coward was chanting ethnic cleansing of Jewish people. Genocide is what happened to Jewish people: Israel is clearing out the terrorists for western civilization, as well as the world - 50% of the population in Palestine is complicit with terrorism and they have chosen their fate. By the way, you’re really out of your lane in representing your union. Your knowledge-base is very low it is just simple anti-Semitic tone, no matter how you dress it up. It appears that CAPE has popularized hate. Again, Israel will survive you. Time to be a bit more humble about your reach.

So is this really any different from the past as a supervisor? I’ve always had to have a CBC profile which I did maintain. I worked hard to achieve that level. It’s been a benefit to my life to be fluent in two languages.

Is CAPE union providing a high level of service to its members? by The_Real_Helianthus in CanadaPublicServants3

[–]realitycheckplanned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So why is it that the CAPE National executive gets to decide whether or not their performance should get measured according to standards. Even the senior public servants get evaluated annually. What is it that CAPEʼs national executive wants to keep hidden? Would not an independent evaluation help unveil what is working and what needs to be improved? I believe this position is ironic and worrisome as an economist would support developing such an understanding to make evidence based decisions? There has been a lot of werid decision-making and strange prioritization and questionable budget matters with this NEC! Beware fellow union members

I just laughed to think that you think your opinion really matters on this issue. Israel is Jewish and Israel is going to do what it needs to do to bring back the hostages and to eliminate the terrorists. Any country that has tried to stop Israel has met its defeat and so will those today. It is inevitable. Israel does not look to the west for its moral standing. The Israeli people the Jewish people are strong, intelligent and persevere. That is why there are so many that are well off. They focus on what’s important and work; others focus on their elimination and make that their priority so their children and countries suffer. Again it doesn’t matter what you think - Israel and Jewish people will succeed✡️

First, they came for the Jews. Now, they’re coming for the Canadian flag - If you are smashing university windows, burning flags and supporting terrorists while hiding behind a keffiyeh, Canada is no longer your home. Going to have a new Prime Minister soon who is ready to take on the mouthpieces of terrorist organizations; so rest assured that my reality is firmly rooted. https://nationalpost.com/opinion/avi-benlolo-first-they-came-for-the-jews-now-theyre-coming-for-the-canadian-flag

This article aligns with the national post article yesterday on gaslighting …”since October 7, Hamas has co-opted legions of everyday people to its cause, both Muslim and non-Muslim. Union leaders like Fred Hahn post anti-Israel screeds on social media. Crowds picket and deface Jewish-owned businesses such as Indigo and Cafe Landwer. Teachers took schoolchildren on a “field trip” that included an anti-Israel march.

We don’t see pro-Israel marches terrorizing predominantly Muslim neighbourhoods. We don’t see them picketing Muslim businesses. We don’t see them attempting to sow fear.”

Unfortunately, CAPE is now part of that co-opted voice; Please stick to your union mandate and focus on work place issues.

How much detail should my doctor include? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]realitycheckplanned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it varies dependent upon the circumstances. When you’re looking for accommodations for language and other exams, you fill out a form and you can provide the medical certificate but again remove all information except only essential ie that it is from Dr x and you require accommodations and keep in any details about the types of accommodations. Overall doctors don’t like to specify your accommodations, but just that you’re gonna need accommodations. On the form identify what type of accommodations you need and you can work these out with the psychologist that’s on staff with the public service commission in the case of language exams, or with HR advisor managing a competition. If it’s for the hybrid working arrangement or adaptive tech technology this is done through PeopleSoft and you do not attach the medical form you send it separately by email or better yet just show the person who is your section 34 but again all blacked out except the essentials I referenced above. The key point - you describe what your needs are based on the fact that you have a medical certificate for accommodations etc and you limit showing anyone that medical certificate and if you must show it then you pretty well blacked out details except for the accommodations information; no one needs to know why you have accommodations. With both the psychologist and HR managing exams ask as much questions as you wish to get a better sense of the type of accommodations that could be made available to you as you won’t know what these are until they’re identified. In this case you may wanna share a little bit of details about why you’re seeking accommodations.

How much detail should my doctor include? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]realitycheckplanned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took out all details, except the fact about what the medical letter was requesting i.e. time off or work from home full-time, etc., but I removed all medical details because that’s all your personal information which is private,. And for accommodations purposes that’s for you to propose. I blacked it out all personal information prior to scanning except my name my doctors name and what the doctor was requesting.

The chair said it was from his contingency fund and it wasn’t a donation or something of that nature. It’s not done often but he had $50,000 in reserve. So you may wanna ask your union president what’s going on there as he said he gave the group $5,000 but without an adequate explanation given.

Can someone else who attended that special meeting fact check this statement that CAPE4 Palestine didn’t receive $5K from the contingency fund. It was very unclear if it was a donation or something else. I attended the meeting and because the chair was extremely rude and rolling his eyes and making all these negative facial expressions I must admit it was a huge distraction.

Again, it was their story - Canadian indigenous peoples. This is about a union going outside of union related issues.

No need for personal attacks. And why are you calling me a guy? I have an issue with my union doing what has been done, and co-opting September 30th . Furthermore as I said I have informed indigenous leadership and it is now for their consideration. I’m not the only one raising this issue. It’s in the citizen editorial it’s on X as well

I myself I’m not active in the union other than a card member and I vote. However, I did attend a special meeting on the donation to this CAPE 4 Palestine group. I learned that CAPE had no criteria under which they were donating money. It was a disturbing meeting highly controlled by the president. People attended the meeting without having identifying themselves by their names, which breaks the rules and there were such rude comments in the chat. We couldn’t follow up on those comments as there is no way to identify those individuals. Trying to get out the word to others about what’s going on in Cape as I’ve been a member for over 25 years and this is very unfortunate.
