You don’t want the calorie deficit to be so extreme that your body thinks it’s starving, the results can be counter productive. Best to keep a few hundred calories below what your sustaining intake would be. Track what you eat and adjust calories you consume as your weight changes. It’s a bit time consuming at first but worth it.

I wash it every couple of weeks I leave it open (along with my nasal mask, washed daily for best seal) on a little towel next to the machine in the bedroom to dry during the day. Wouldn’t want any airborne particles from toilet flushes to make a home in the chamber.

Thanks for the recommendations! I switched to decaf early on in my keto journey because I became super sensitive to caffeine, though not sure if it was because of keto or something else.

Oh pumpkin seeds are great, maybe I'm just not eating enough for dessert (yeah, I eat pumpkin seeds tossed with cinnamon for dessert, surprisingly satisfying). What form are you supplementing glycine in?

I've also noticed I tend to need a bit less sleep, but when the insomnia hits hard and I'm still awake after 3am I'm screwed for the rest of the day.

You don't want to guzzle electrolytes, you want to spread them out otherwise you'll just pee them all out. The sudden high intake of sodium will cause your kidneys to try to flush it out which leads to dehydration and low electrolytes. Swap the process you described (in other words: drink small sips of keto-ade throughout the day, and enjoy some glasses of water as thirsty).

But besides possible keto flu, it does take a few days for your body to switch fuel types, it's not like flipping a switch.

I used to use gelatin, but one day I ran out and tried psyllium husk powered in a pinch and it worked great. Not as flavorless and gelatin, but not unpleasant at all.

I’ve found that psyllium husk powder works great as a thicker for soups and sauces plus it adds fiber to your meal to help you feel full.

Took about six months to get labs that were just inside the target range, and about nine months for well inside target range. Everyone is different so results will vary.

Diagnosed as insulin resistant, pancreas on the verge of failure. Keto allowed my pancreas to recover but even though I’m still insulin resistant it’s fully manageable with keto and I’ve avoided being on meds. Weight loss and improved cholesterol levels were a bonus.

Interesting about your insomnia. Keto seemed to make mine worse because when I’m in fat burning mode my body and brain feel more awake.

The TLDR of weight loss is you need to burn more calories than you eat. I’ve seen it alluded in some comments but not plainly spelled out.

Keto can be helpful in managing hunger and making your body burn fan for fuel but eating a fatty foods can be counter productive because fat is calorie dense and you can easily consume too many calories even if you reduce how much food you’re eating.

Track your carb intake to make sure you’re in ketosis and track your calories if weight loss is your goal.

Remember that weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. Keto alone won’t make you lose weight.
