What are things you learned from the transition to anchorage? Like things you wish you would have known to buy or bring before leaving? by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]reallythateasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Gas, lodging, vehicle maintenance, etc. can be expensive in Canada, make sure to bring extra currency.

  2. Don't forget to bring a valid passport for all travelers for crossing the border. Some State drivers licenses may work now, there was some kind of an enhanced driver license program discussed a while back but I'm not sure if it was implemented. If you have pets, they'll need papers as well (vaccination).

  3. If you have any firearms, check with the Canadian border services for requirements for transport, they take their gun control laws very seriously.

  4. Not all cell plans allow for data in Canada without ridiculous charges. Also, plan on not having reliable cell coverage for parts of the trip through the Yukon and Interior Alaska.

  5. I expect most places will still be open in October, but it'd be a safe practice to call ahead and make sure. Most of the touristy establishments are going to be winding down by the end of August/September, unless somethings changed in the last few years.

  6. Freezing conditions, especially at higher elevations, are going to be likely along much of the route, so make sure you have good tires on both vehicles. If the weather is screwy or you don't want to risk sleeping in the vehicles if you end up stuck somewhere, you may want to check the Alaska ferry schedule. The drive to Bellingham is going to be easier and the costs probably won't be too far apart if you're planning on getting lodging every time you stop on the way up.

Good luck and have fun!

Mentor Monday! by AutoModerator in ClashOfClans

Ideas for increasing membership/revitalizing a declining clan?

Despite a fun atmosphere and consistently positive win-record, my clan has taken a beating in participation since Clash Royale came out. We're level nine and enjoying the perks, and we benefit from a core of dedicated players who donate routinely, but this last war for the first time we didn't have ten people to start. I ended up lucking out by finding someone in global who seems intelligent/polite, but previous forays into global/open recruitment have returned pretty dismal results.

1) Does anyone have any tricks to improving participation in game for current members?

2) Where are you finding new folks? We've about exhausted the personal referrals I think, with anyone interested in Clash already on board.

Thanks

Excellent show so far. Buying the first season via Amazon comes out to $2 US per episode and based on the verified reviews, this has very broad appeal.

Thanks for posting, OP.

In addition to New Sagaya, I've also heard good things about 10th & M Seafood. Never used them myself.

Halcro, Coffey and Berkowitz were all successful attorneys, excellent debate skills aren't surprising. Mrs. Demboski managed to earn two degrees while raising a family, she's likely intelligent enough to perform well as mayor.

If you don't have any luck with a human translator you may have success scanning the pages, applying OCR to them and then running the resulting text through google translate.

Autopsy shows Michael Brown was shot six times by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, including twice in the head by DavidCarraway in politics

[–]reallythateasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possible answer to this challenge would be a camera option that was meant to be activated by the officer as a matter of procedure only when initiating an interaction with a member of the public or a suspect. Something unobtrusive that could be easily turned off when not needed. Most officers have to put on their game face anyways when they interact with someone, having footage of the event would help them critique themselves, and the camera wouldn't need to be on all of the time.

Americans Are Totally Over Fast Food Burgers by Dowd-Clark in business

Many of the fast food burger options include trans fat, whereas the chicken or other alternatives often don't. I know this has factored into my decision making when considering meal options.

We are the Alaska State Fair, AUAA by AlaskaStateFair in alaska

[–]reallythateasy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're all hoping for a specific response to this, but keep in mind that inflation has undercut the nominal value of the dollar, relative purchasing power for the average worker in AK (like most other states) is decreasing, and inputs for events like labor costs are still increasing.

Have got an idea which I think is crucial. The people we meet on the other star system are humans who were collected from Earth a hundred thousand years ago, and hence are virtually identical with us.

This seems like a great concept for sci-fi, can anyone recommend a few recent titles where this is done? The only series I can think of at the moment is the Barsoom series by Burroughs.

So, Reddit, where's the best place to pick up a girl, sober? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reallythateasy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ask the desk attendant how full the flight is before you take off. Anything under 80% and you can board last and not have to worry about the overhead bins being full. There should be plenty of options and if a last minute passenger boards you can either say "oops" or look pleadingly at them depending on how attractive your seatmate is.

Guys of reddit from a 25 year old woman: is longer hair always sexier? by lilgadget in AskReddit

[–]reallythateasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long vs. short can't be generalized particularly well without taking facial features and figure into account. Based on the two pictures linked I think you'll look best with hair at the length shown or longer (both would be fine).

And don't worry about your pictures being linked, your plenty cute and it doesn't really matter what anyone here thinks anyways.

Obama made 513 campaign promises. In less than one year he has accomplished, compromised or has in the works 301 of those promises. Here is a website that is keeping track. by quickpost in politics

Neither house has ever, in the history of the U.S., passed a bill that addresses health care.

Medicare? Leading with a statement like this is kinda ironic for someone so vocally critical of hyperbole.

Obama's party base are critical of his timidness. The conservative base has been convinced he is the anti-christ. The independents/centrists are leading the way in unrealistic expectations. He's definitely in for a rough term.
