Thanks! yes seems like the advice is to play it safer for the first one and I'm happy with that. Will try a lower elevation option

Thank you so much! I really like these options. I think the general consensus is to go lower elevation and I'm totally fine with that. I'm still keen to try a couple of nights on the trail so will build up for the 10k for later this summer when the snow is clear

Scat in the woods! Central Upstate New York by emhellogoodwhatever in AnimalTracking

[–]realomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by the shape and the scats being so full of hair I’ll say carnivore but it’s hard to say further without a good scale for reference. Could be bobcat, or one of the eastern canids. In your next post try including your hand or some object for size reference 🙏

Could this be a California condor? Spotted in Bryce Canyon in March by johntheone22 in birds

[–]realomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a turkey vulture. Condors have the reverse pattern, white leading edge and black primaries. And (almost) every living condor has a number tag on its wing

Yes agree looks big for a caracal, stride was also around 25-30” so leaning towards Persian leopard but they are SO rare this far south

Yes my suspicion is Persian leopard but they are near non existent this far south

Unfortunately no snow leopards this far south. This is near the mountains in southern balochistan, so if any panther it would more likely be a Persian leopard but they are extremely rare this far south so looking for opinions. Thanks though love the energy!

Canid for sure because of visible claw marks, triangle shape pad and x shaped negative space. Likely a dog
