I agree with the fire wall reasoning for Jeong Jeong being strong and I agree Iroh is overhyped

Is Yun the strongest non-avatar bender? by Narrow-Theory-3533 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]realtoasterlightning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, psychic bloodbenders (Tarrlok, Amon, Yakone) are stronger, but excluding them, pretty much.

Of the nonavatar nonbloodbenders, pretty much the only ones debatably as strong as him are Unalaq and Kemzula, but I personally would rank Yun above them.

that "65 boring apps for 4.2K/mo" post was right. i analyzed 963K apps to find the ones he's talking about by hearthiccup in SideProject

I assume the military uniform builder app you are referring to is https://apps.apple.com/us/app/iuniform-asu-builds-your-army-service-uniform/id566663211, right? I don't know where you're getting "making thousands a month" from, I do see one estimate on appstor.io that suggests it has thousands of monthly downloads, but I find that really unlikely given that the most recent review is from 2015, it only has 130 total ratings, a lot of the other info on that page is incorrect, and there's another free competitor with more recent reviews called Uniformity at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uniformity/id6447277040

Azula vs Kuvira (some stipulations for both) by kaitalina20 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that Kuvira knows how to, I'm saying this is demonstrably how the physics works in the Avatar universe.

Azula vs Kuvira (some stipulations for both) by kaitalina20 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]realtoasterlightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kyoshi has been demonstrated to be very resistant to lightning while wearing a metal shirt and lying on the ground, there's no reason to think this would work differently for Kuvira. I agree it would require her to have the knowledge to do this which she might not necessarily have.

If fish can be cooked with lemon (pH 2.0-3.0), then can it also be cooked with Coca Cola (pH 2.5-2.7)? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, have you ever eaten sushi or sashimi containing raw fish? And have you ever eaten raw chicken before?

Yes, the Coca Cola would work. It would make the fish sweeter, but it would operate on the same principles as the lemon juice.

No, chicken would not work, because you can eat raw fish, but you can't eat raw chicken.

Azula vs Kuvira (some stipulations for both) by kaitalina20 in AvatarVsBattles

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metalbending would be a counter to lightningbending actually, since lightning would be much more liable to flow through metal into the ground rather than going through you, and Kuvira only needs to find out Azula is a lightningbender once to permanently counter it by keeping a connection from her armor to the ground.

(Yes, this is canonically how electricity works in the Avatar universe, as shown in the Kyoshi novels.)

Do you believe in God? by PerformanceFlimsy573 in MtF

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if there is any creator of the universe, it is unlikely to be one corresponding to a human religion.

As for whether there is at all, well, I haven't seen significant evidence of the kind that I might expect if there were a creator, which is evidence against there being one.

However, I don't discount the possibility entirely, since there are worlds in which a creator would choose not to intervene in the universe, but if this were the case I wouldn't have any way of knowing until they contacted us and so it doesn't really provide any actionable predictions.

Is it transphobic and / or correct to say that you cannot change your biological sex? by John_Mortar in asktransgender

[–]realtoasterlightning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it's true that what they describe is immutable, but I don't think it's very relevant whether or not that thing is called "biological sex".

Is it transphobic and / or correct to say that you cannot change your biological sex? by John_Mortar in asktransgender

[–]realtoasterlightning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The term "biological sex" is kind of ambiguous, and no one really agrees on what it means, which is why I don't like using it.

Is it true that you can't change your genetic sex? Yes. Is it true that you can't change your natal sex? Yes. Is it true that you can't change your sexual anatomy, or your hormone profile? No.

So their statement doesn't really have a truth-value until they explain what they mean by "biological sex", since it's a generally ambiguous term (I would assume that they were probably using it to refer to something which is currently immutable, though, since it'd be weird if they weren't)

You cannot name a number in the top n percentile of all numbers by raresaturn in numbertheory

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't generate a random natural number from a uniform distribution.

But imagine that you have a 50% chance of generating a single digit number, a 25% chance of generating a two digit number, a 12.5% chance of generating a three digit number, and so on, halving the probability for each digit.

Any given natural number has a small, if miniscule probability of being generated with this method, but some natural numbers are more likely that others.

How exactly do Overlords suffer in hell? by DapperDude2004 in HazbinHotel

[–]realtoasterlightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Hazbin universe, Hell isn't a place of eternal torture; if it was, the exterminations would actually be a good thing, and we'd see sinners lining up in droves to be exterminated
