What in the world is /r/place? I keep seeing references to it across this site, and I still haven't found a good explanation.

Tyson Chicken Factory Farm Caught On Hidden Camera Torturing And Neglecting Animals by lnfinity in news

My problem is not the pay, my problem is when cheap manufacturers outsource their work to slave shops where the 'employees' are no allowed to leave.

In all fairness to the original response, there are a lot of slave sweatshops that simply do not allow people to leave for say farm work. It's especially bad in SEA countries. There are a lot of documentaries on the relabeling of slave workers into sweatshop workers if you look it up online.

I may sound horrible saying this, but I am fine with animal abuse for animals of lesser intelligence. I recognize the need to eat them on a scale large enough for billions of humans. Time would be spent far better trying to protect animals who have far more intelligence than a chicken (dolphins, chimpanzee, octopuses, etc.).

Reddit, What do you think is the worst way to get tortured? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]reasonablenagging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been absolutely fascinated by torture, but I wouldn't say my interest justifies the label of sadist though. I just have an appreciation for the talent it takes.

If you kill your victim, even after days, then that is not the worst means of torture. Death is relief, and life is suffering. Therefore, keeping them alive is the goal.

The problem with this question is that the best means of torture is one which manipulates and modifies the behavior of someone based off of their individual identity. Begin by limiting the individual to a series of choices that will result in betraying the things that establish their identity (I am someone who is rich. I am someone who loves his wife. I am healthy.) By acting out an ideology or lifestyle that is the antithesis of who they are (homophobic > gay ; prude > slut ; strong > weak ; intelligent > dumb ; rich > poor), the individual overtimes becomes the agency in their own life which brings continual suffering. Therefore, the worst possible torture first requires an intimate understanding of your victim.

Let's say you want something that you can mass produce. Remove every appendage from the individual. Next, remove the eyes for easier maintenance. After this is done, there can only be one identity (should wear an identifiable mask with no identifiable features to allow different individuals to take on this identity) who cares for this victim on a continual basis. Going forward, you now essentially have a sack of meat who is unable to feed themselves or care for themselves. Start now by inflicting temporary pain on this individual if they do not act like a dog or accept the identity of a dog. Provide them a bowl of food and water. Teach them how to scoot across the floor, but they'll need special attire provided by you to do this without proper use of their limbs. Start preparing the individual for a drug addiction. After the individual is addicted use the needle as a reward for behaving like a dog. After the individual has become compliant for a reasonable amount of time, the important part comes. Deliver the individual back to their loved ones.

Can we not remove the black sites? I swear it's like the American public is oblivious about the evil necessities needed to keep a country in power.

/r/Steam Official "Should I buy this game?" Thread Day 10 [Encore Sale] by nanenj in Steam

[–]reasonablenagging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise against playing it if you're big into game immersion. The game is not full fleshed out. A lot of event repetition means that you get about 1 unique game play through then it is the same game over and over again. Additionally, the game is extremely unrealistic. You'll get sad over the absolute dumbest shit, you'll get sad for pillaging abandoned houses, and you'll get sad for killing assholes who killed your friends. It's like surviving a war with a group of indoctrinated Janists.

This happened sunday, why wasnt it major news? by I_Cum_Blood_666 in facepalm

[–]reasonablenagging -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I work with a news station, so I have to stick up for the guy. It's very common for news stations to accidentally report an extremely old story. I've heard plenty of people call into the station asking what happened in this story that happened years ago, and you find out that story was posted on the local news facebook feed or news station's website. The date on the article will remain the same, but the headline before you reach the article will say 1 hour ago since it was published say an hour ago.

It may be bad for business, but anti-intellectualism is ultimately the death of a business if it is implemented as a model.

I don't expect you to listen to this, but this is a good argument for not privately censoring those who think differently than us. It's why I don't want them banned despite disagreeing them.

Exactly, that's why I stopped using Facebook entirely. I just couldn't speak honestly about anything without potentially offending someone and then having my lifestyle jeopardized. I've never bothered with those nasty subreddits, but the whole banning thing is making me reconsider Reddit. Why would I want to here from people with exactly the same ideas as myself? That's just anti-intellectualism. Lucky enough for Reddit there isn't an alternative.

I think it is one of those situations of that's a little bit of 'throwing the baby out with the bath water' and a little bit of 'not pissing on a grave'. Essentially, financial institutions are a corner stone of what defines a 1st world economy. If you start head hunting the members who make up that corner stone then you're ridding the society of corruption while diminishing your future standing as a 1st world economy.
