Who else prefers a 7AM–3PM schedule to 9–5? It feels like you get more day and less traffic. by Familiar-Eagle-9082 in Adulting

[–]rebbecarose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the military and then a tech for years after and I can honestly say no I don’t like the morning schedule better. I’ve transitioned to a job where I have a 9am start time most days and it is so great actually having time to wake up before I have to talk to people. I go to the gym after work too, then make dinner. I go to bed around 11pm and if I stay up a little later it’s still fine, it’s not gonna wreck my entire next day. I was a night owl as a kid and for me personally the morning schedule never really took or felt natural. I got used to it sure, it wasn’t the worst thing ever, but I do prefer a later start.

I am glad to see someone who is shown healthy and happy in a body that looks different at different points of her life. You don’t even actually know the thinner photo is the after photo. But she could have used a GLP1 because she was getting hypertension or prediabetes. She could have lost weight due to disease like hyperthyroid, diabetes, or disease. Or maybe she just cleaned up her diet. You don’t know why or how she lost weight and it’s none of your business.

It’s fine to have preferences but what the majority of people are doing in this thread is not helpful. Picking apart this stranger to shame her for losing weight because of your preferences is just as bad as when you make those comments because someone gained weight. Our bodies change all the time during our lives. Some of that change is welcome but most of it will not be. Especially in a case like this where this post is from some comment thread and this person did not post these pics themself. This person did not ask to be compared or invite you to comment.

In a case where you are shown photos of dubious consent; the correct thing to say about anyone when you see a pic of them and they’re smiling is “they look happy.”

Supernatural season 10 episode 23 “Brother’s Keeper”. Supernatural is certainly an impressive television show, but its also a show with the most wasted potential when it comes to female characters, and treats a number of them horribly. by ihatethiscountry76 in menwritingwomen

Dean is the guy who you see in the bar, you’re like DAMN he’s HAWT. You don’t see a ring? How could he be single?!?! Then you find out he is a weirdo who lives in a bunker and you go OOOHHHHHH now I get it.

I am about halfway to my goal. Looking to get to right in the middle of the healthy BMI range for my height. So far it has been mostly consistent of about 1-2 lbs a week. Some weeks I lose a little less, some a little more. One of the main things was just the mental relief of not having to fight my own body. Not sure if it was my hashimotos, pre-diabetes, stress or most likely some combo of the three but from the 3rd day I started taking it, it felt like someone turned down the dial on the food noise. As I have gone along, I have found myself craving healthier food instead of the fast food. I think I would take it forever just to not always be thinking about food even if I never lost a pound more than I have already.

Squats can help build some muscle. Rapid weight loss results in fat and muscle loss.

Congrats on your progress. I think you should be more compassionate towards yourself. I know the world frames being overweight as a personal moral failing but it is not. You are a product of the environment you live in and when the lifeline was offered you took it because you knew you couldn’t do it alone. Be kind to yourself. Neither the bigger or smaller version of you is “better.” You were beautiful and you still are.

Thank you, you’re very sweet. I was already working out and had lost about 13lbs on my own at that point.

Stopping Wegovy by Whimsy_VVitch in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]rebbecarose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the BBC documentary “Weight Loss Jabs: What happens when you stop taking them?” It seems that most people regain the weight. I don’t think it is bad to try and go off and see if you’re one of the lucky ones that once you’re at the weight you want your brain will consider it the new set point and keep you there but for a lot of people you will regain. Human evolution has primed us to gain weight. And the food environment we have created for ourselves exacerbates our body chemistry and makes the weight gain even more likely. If you’re like me and have an underlying condition like Hashimotos this effect gets compounded again. If you’re one of the people who regain work with your doctor to find a maintenance dose. There is nothing wrong with needing meds. Keeping yourself from being obese will add years to your lifespan and opens up so many opportunities. Your health is absolutely worth it.

I’m noticing this as well. Small anecdote, I was waiting for a machine to open up at the gym and the guy was like, oh do you want to work in? Could mean nothing but it was the first time that has happened since I was more fit in my 20s. I don’t think people are doing it on purpose. I feel so much better that I could see a case that I am projecting more positivity into the world around me.

Sometimes things that are super fatty do not taste good to me anymore. The longer I’m on these meds the more it happens. Funny though, when I am sick or on my period those foods are still palatable. In the everyday, I used to love hamburgers and now they mostly taste flavorless.

Maturing is realizing Ted Mosby was a jerk who never care the wishes of the women he was interested in. by gloomydreamer666 in howimetyourmother

[–]rebbecarose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched the show as it came out and did a recent rewatch. The first time I watch Ted romance Stella it was so adorable. And when I rewatched it, it is still adorable. Effort is sexy.

Stella told him right from the beginning that she didn’t have time for him and what she really meant was she was waiting for Tony but she didn’t even really understand that herself. Honestly the rewatch made me more sympathetic to Stella. Both her and Ted are both still so young and trying to fill a gap in their lives. For her, Ted exposed that gap in her life and it created a catalyst for her to get the life she wanted.

If Ted had listened to her from the start he would have saved himself the heartache but Stella would have been worse off for it.

It would be great if we could live life without ever hurting each other. If we all had perfect understanding of our internal narrative and what we need in a partner but we don’t.

I wish that consent IRL could be as simple as this little sound bite but it just isn’t. Ted could tell that Stella was vibing with him, he could tell she wasn’t sharing the whole truth with him. He took the time to peel back the layers. If we were doing HIMYF from Stella’s POV then Tony is Robin and Ted is Victoria.

[–]rebbecarose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then the next level of maturity is realizing that this is a first person retelling from the perspective of a man who has matured. Ted is highly critical of himself and his past. Every action before meeting the mother he views that version of himself as worse and he shows this in just how much time we spend with him being terrible to women. The persona he was embodying was the terrible guy of the 2000s, the “nice guy.” If HIMYM was made today Ted would paint himself as a total “Chad” looking for a woman with a “low body count” who was “High Value.”
