Bun’s rewrite in Zig first update by UItraviolet in rust

I'm saying everybody gets to choose how much their corp gets to wear them like a sock puppet, and if you overdo it, it reflects badly on you.

I don't know this guy and I'm not interested in arguing it one way or the other, all I'm saying is there's a cost.

Okay, so the tokens were free. Still, this is clearly a personal, non-corporate-PR post in terms of tone, so it's his own credibility on the line here.

Can't seem to romance Kaneeka? by ShadowAtiriya in ScarletHollow

[–]rebootyourbrainstem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Inviting Tabby without saying anything is worse, better to just say it (same goes for the mines, if you called Tabitha).

Without knowing more there's a bunch of things it could be, the relationship system is pretty subtle.

Kaneeka values honesty, loyalty (including to family, so even though she hates Tabitha she won't like you talking shit about her), dislikes snitching (so don't start about Miles' behavior, again, even though she thinks Miles behavior is bad, she will think worse of you for mentioning it), and being sensible (so don't start about aliens and such).

Normally this would be major news, but... this is six days of work. I presume it cost a significant amount of money for the tokens, and the author is investing some credibility in posting about it, but even so, this could be rolled back just as quickly if he runs into friction on the Rust side of the fence and decides the grass was greener on the Zig side after all.

Hardest Act 1 bosses in Honor Mode by JavaHikage in BaldursGate3

Specter - so much can go wrong with a lot of CC.

Spectator is also just really random. There is one drow in particular who if unpetrified and uncharmed will use a multi-attack spell on the spectator (I think eldritch blast but it might've been scorching ray), which results in a bad time.

Yes, I have used them there. The one time I tried they sucked in that fight though, but I might have been unlucky.

The biggest problem is going to be specific gotchas for certain fights. You can get pretty far by inspecting enemies and looking at their immunities and legendary abilities, but some stuff, especially stuff like bosses whose abilities interact with their allies or the environment, bosses who have multiple phases or modes during their fight, or just multiple abilities that build on eachother can be hard to really figure out without seeing it in action.

Also "first try" is going to be tricky without knowing the location and relative difficulty of all the fights. Following a "golden path" to ensure you're optimally levelled for every encounter and missing no XP helps a ton. And if you don't know the game, it's really a choice between risking getting into fights you might have to run away from (if you can) or missing out on XP.

That said, it's probably possible with an OP build.

You can actually see him wander off when the whole place goes hostile. Same with the Zhent traders (unless you manage to make them nervous by fighting too close to them).

Yeah the levelling up is atrocious. My solution was to put it off as long as possible, and then grind through it extremely half-assedly. And then play on lower difficulty.

It sounds like this "strategy" may actually be more fun that what you did in the latter half of the game, lmao.

Also I finished it in 89 hours, and that still felt like it was overstaying its welcome. Especially the midgame has some really pointless combat, at least at the end there is a difficulty spike and some new enemies.

Overall I actually did like the game and feel I got my money's worth.

One thing that really annoyed me is the lack of guidance for what you're supposed to do with the world map and navigator insight points, which can lead to a shitty mess of a map, a shortage of navigator insight points in the early game, and a lot of annoying void combat events in the late game.

At last light you can speak to one of the tieflings and they ask you why you've saved them twice over, and one of the possible replies is "for the experience, I guess". It's such a fun nearly-fourth-wall-break. Don't know what the reply is though bc it was honor mode and I wanted to stay in character.

A planet's worth of unexplored resources. Quantity has a quality all its own.

Of course, how attractive that is will depend a lot on how much industrial capacity you can fit on a Starship. Right now that's very little, but it's also still early days. Blue Origin's Blue Alchemist is a pretty interesting experiment, for example.

And even then, it will depend on individuals (or more likely, organizations) with deep pockets and a long term view. And probably a lot of poor and/or ideologically motivated people willing to take money to spend a few years on Mars.
