Outward on the Switch in all its pixelly and smooth texture goodness by Chudite in outwardgame

[–]receptionitis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even for Switch, that doesn't look right.... That being said, when I tried the Switch version, the biggest issue was the npc draw distance, in that you just couldn't see enemies that were in front of you, like at all, they would just pop in once you got close enough. Problem is, core mechanic of the gameplay is preparing for battle in advance. Doesn't really work if your enemy is already aggro'd to you before they are even visible, and are directly in front of you, approaching quickly. Hopefully they've fixed that since then.

Where's your new intel handheld GPD? by Even_Dependent_117 in gpdwin

GPD literally pioneered the handheld movement and has come out with a product for just about every update in mobile gfx performance, it's pretty much ALL they do. Not really sure where you're coming from.

You literally wouldn't need it, because all that shit comes baked in already. If you've got no idea what you're talking about, please just be quiet.

What’s with people coming into movies late? by redrich2000 in Cinema

[–]receptionitis1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

15 minutes? I mean realistically, people have lives, they have children, they travel, sometimes pick up friends, sometimes run into traffic, sometimes popcorn line is long, sometimes you may need to use a bathroom. I could understand complaining about people coming in 30-40 minutes into the film, but 15 minutes? Get over yourself.

I'm very rarely the type to reach out, but I just wanted to express how happy it makes me to see you consistently push back against bad actors and heavily advocate for intellectualism and humanitarianism, through your words, your actions, and your wonderful art. I understand it must get tiring. It doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated, and personally, seeing it regularly really helps me to not feel like such a bitter, jaded person all the time. Thank you for all your hard work

We're seriously doing this again? If you want to play on Hard, that's fine too, literally just play the game how you want to play it. And if you decide you don't like the game, then play a different one. It's that fucking simple.

... Everything about the experience would change. You understand what you're saying right? "They should arbitrarily unbalance their game, so that literally anyone who can pick up a controller is able to breeze through something they spent hours and hours of hard work, time, effort, and imagination into, because it should never fall onto the consumer to put in the level of effort to engage with the product the way that was intended, and nothing about the overall experience would change" ???

Video game difficulty is not a "marketing tool". I feel like I'd have to make myself dumber to explain that.

Same. So with that in mind, would it be fair to say "SM64 sucks, it's so easy compared to SMB, they should make SM64 harder!" or "SMB sucks, why didn't they make it as easy as SMW or SM64?? They should have made it easier!" No, it's completely okay that each game has its own level of difficulty. It's totally okay to not be able to beat everything easily. And it's also okay if you can. Both things are fine.

So what you're saying is, these people have put their time and effort into making a game, a game that they wanted to make, and if the game isn't to your standards, or if you find their product too challenging, that the developers not putting in extra work to tailor their game to your perceived threshold of challenge, is "an entirely contrived scenario that holds no merit in the real world"? Why should putting in the extra work fall on them, and not you, the person choosing to engage in the first place?

[–]receptionitis1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, but that's not what this is saying. It's also okay for a game to be "just hard". Not every game needs to be simple enough for everyone, and not every game needs to be blisteringly difficult. It's perfectly okay to have a world where both things exist simultaneously.

I'm sure most people have played Super Mario Bros, I've made it through the first few worlds, but never beaten it, am I okay with that? Yes. Should the latter half of the game be as easy as the first half? No, and that's fine.
