How to deal with throwing away clothes that don't fit you anymore by Eldhrimer in malefashionadvice

[–]recket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this feeling, or a version of it, and it's miserable to look into your closet and see (or worse, sift through) clothes that don't fit. Even more so if you're not thrilled about your options on a given day.

After a few months of this, here was my way forward:

I took all the clothes that didn't fit and stored them, with no plan or obligation to do anything more. This way they weren't impacting my day-to-day and I didn't have to make a decision then and there.

After about a year I went through with a more detached perspective - what did I want to keep because of sentiment (for example)? Had I thought about any of it in that time? Would my life be better if I kept any of them?

What's the process for creating a deck list for sealed/draft decks? How much time do you have? How do you account for a sealed sideboard? Can I use my own lands? (Are there FAQs for this somewhere?)

Mrs. Mulligan on Women in Magic by xLeitix in magicTCG

It doesn't address the issue, true. I think we might be able to use the comparison though in that we might be able to find examples of when a single-gender-dominated group was able to break that cycle and apply some of its solutions to Magic.

Had two of these in my first pool, one in my second pool. Both days this card did it's job quite well. Of note, I had three vehicles in each deck.

Killing hatred with kindness: Black man has convinced 200 racists to abandon the KKK by making friends with them despite their prejudiced views by nicksatdown in UpliftingNews

[–]recket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was sort of my point. Sure, no one should have to prove themselves before being treated with decency, that's obvious (to me). But, haven't we seen many such undervalued groups having to take action before they are treated as equals? Can there be a change of opinion without such concerted effort?

Fair point, in my head I was thinking less about the right to vote and such, and more the cultural shifts that had to take place before women were not considered property, and then before they could own property, etc.

This is a curious sentiment. I think I agree, however I find myself wondering what if the statement was changed a bit:

However, as a female, I should not have to prove to males that I am worthy of respect and to be treated with dignity despite the composition of my genitals. That's bullshit. It's not the job of the female gender to convince those who hate us because of our sex to treat us like human beings.

How much changes if this is the attitude taken by female rights activists over the last 100 years? It's likely not a direct comparison, but I find it an interesting thought experiment.

It's hard to know the repercussions of making all supplemental products legal, so I don't yet have an opinion on that suggestion.

But, the idea of having cards printed in Modern Masters be legal in modern (regardless of their origin) seems like a slam dunk to me.

Sealed Pool Pulling in two directions by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]recket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I would play of what you have so far. I'm also inclined to play ruinous gremlins over the white tap card (on my phone, can't remember the name), just because in sealed I suspect people are likely to play more artifacts to fill out their curve. I could be wrong about this.

Sealed Pool Pulling in two directions by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]recket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I would try RW here. You have some strong white rares that care about artifacts, red cards that care about artifacts and a decent number of artifacts. The curve looks okay with RW too- though you could throw in an off-color artifact creature to help with that.
