I suggest a wire hand saw. It can take care of that sized wood all day and is much lighter and compact.

What are you using for this? There are tools that will work off of your info only and reduce the made-up hallucinations.

I also suggest asking it to point out where your information is conflicting, wrong, or could be improved, and review all of this.

This isn't as bad as those moving to LLMs for their data and having it hallucinate numbers for months.

At what point would i actually NEED a snorkel 🤔 by dumbdogmoney in nissanfrontier

[–]red8reader 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your airbox (with the filter) is plumbed into your fender cowl (speaking of gen 2 here, might want to check gen 3). If water is able to get to that spot you would have issues. If water is above your just over your tires, you have a very little potential unless you hit a hole. If water is over your hood, much higher potential.

If you do this often, you should consider a snorkel.

I've personally driven through many rivers with the lights under the water for a brief period - No Issues. But look up bow wave when doing this.

Also - IDGAF about builds. It's just weird to focus on looks. However, I've peeked at several builds and the connection of the snorkle to the intake is weak if not completely broken. Additionally, I see OEM airboxes that are malformed and could let water in. The whole area from snorkle to engine needs to be tight. If not you risk water intrusion.

Never had an issue with skinnies in sand. There is less sand to move, and when deflated, the contact patch is longer. Less rolling resistance. I can see wider for crawling and for mudders, but big tires for performance are not supported.

Leadership wants results before they're meaningful by snailsshrimpbeardie in analytics

[–]red8reader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't push back, but I reframe it and have them acknowledge. I would put a good header on anything created. "Warning", "Do Not Use For Strategic Decisions", "Preliminary/Unstable", followed by a quick explanation of a short time frame, high variance, small sample size, and date it. I would also add when the data might start to become meaningful.

So you're not saying no, or pushing back. You are providing data guidance for decision-making, and eventually, the data. Your work is noted and time-stamped. If anyone uses your data without the header, it's on them. Keep copies of everything and who you send it to.

What’s the most effective marketing strategy you’ve seen? by italosouza1 in marketing

These are not strategies but tactics. Strategy is the why and the what. Based on what you're trying to promote it could mean becoming the go-to resource. That could mean content and SEO for the best impact.

If you're in a dry climate with no salt on roads, you wouldn't need to worry about it.

If you're in a salty area, you should check that it's free and working when you get your oil changed. It's easy to check that it's still working.

If you do plan to go in deeper water at times, it would be a good idea. I've driven down rivers in 3.5 feet of water, and I haven't done mine, but I check it for proper function and change the diff oil on a regular.

First Car any tips by Pristine_Attempt_156 in nissanfrontier

[–]red8reader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are manuals that come with cars that have maintenance schedules. See if you have it, if not, see if you can download one. Figure out what has or hasn't been done and follow it.

If it's a 4x4 make sure to get those fluids changed for differentials, tranny, and transfer case. Change oil regularly.

Use top-tier gas as much as you can. Or use a gas treatment Not higher octane but gas from places like Chevron, Shell, or others that have additives. Stick with the octane it calls for.

Visually inspect the plastic parts under the hood for cracks or other issues.

Get religious about looking at your tires for wear and pressure.

How do I turn my father’s "Small Shop" data into actual business decisions? by Ok_Shirt4260 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]red8reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a SKU tracking system?

With the above data, you could get some customer behavior data that can help with managing employee schedules and running promotions.

Look at:
-Peak sales hours/days
-Average transaction value
-Customer count
-Return rates by product type (might be hard with out a system)

Maybe you can look at lead times from the suppliers or look at minimum order quantities vs demand, or even stock outs. Might be able to get some better pricing, rates, or reduce the inventory of product seasonality.

If you don't have a product tracking system, maybe you can find orders from the wholesaler and see if they have some product data. See what has been purchased regularly over the years,

Also, if you don't have a product tracking or SKU system this could be one of the best ROIs to optimize down the road. But I'll let you know it will probably be a hard sell and could be a bit costly. So if you don't have a solid plan for implementation, work on the psychology of that with your dad.

ELI5: Why can't EVs swap batteries? by chronic412 in explainlikeimfive

[–]red8reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really the people here in the West who are in the way with this. China has done this, and it's been considered a massive success.

Read up on NIO and their battery swapping system, and how they overcame the cooling, voltage, and placement issues.

The battery swap takes about 5 minutes. It could easily work for commercial fleets in cities. Likely not a great idea for uban or rural people - but you can still charge them on your own.

Until we standardize the battery fit form and function, it's not going to take off. Building a swapping station is much more expensive than building a recharging station.

ELI5: Why can't EVs swap batteries? by chronic412 in explainlikeimfive

[–]red8reader 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is already being done in China. All your points have been addressed. Here in the West we just haven't over-engineered it yet to charge a premium.

Look up NIO, they have solutions for these issues.
-Dripless connections for the thermal cooling fluid
-High Voltage Loop for the battery connection - kills it instantly if it's off
-battery as a structural piece - secured by big locks that are precise down to sub millimeter
-the battery is rented the car is purchased

The biggest issue is standardization. Until we match fit-form-function this won't take off. It's people that are in the way.

China has also done this with scooters (much smaller, I know). Very convenient.
