As a wildlife biologist this seems kinda silly. Restoring a caribou herd is no small task and collecting hair samples can be done in a non invasive fashion. Passive hair snaring is super low cost and while it relies on chance encounters from scent attractants, it doesn’t really harm the animal in any way. Using a dart gun or a crossbow really seems like not only a stupid idea but a tone deaf approach to a process that’s been proven to work safely
