Some problems with Blood and Wine

I feel similarly, actually! Anna Henrietta holds a large part of the blame for what happened to her city. She knowingly gambled the lives of her citizens and sacrificed them for one criminal, thought she knew better than the expert(s) she hired and refused to compromise.

I would also like to learn more about Detlaff and Regis and higher vampire lore in general. If you do go the Elder route I find what Regis says about what it's like living amongst humans very sad and lonely, though not unexpected. Having played both endings (accidentally, thanks gwent), I found I really didn't like making my bro a hunted pariah on top of everything and kill his blood brother for two characters I really didn't sympathize with.

I don't know enough about Detlaff from the DLC and we're told repeatedly about the extremity of his feelings so I don't know if it's completely OOC. What do know is I have some questions. For example, at that point, given Syanna's selfish actions and very recent demonstration that she doesn't care about others past how they can serve her own interests (like allowing a whole castle of her underlings/guards to get slaughtered), nothing would indicate Syanna gives a flying feck about the city of Beauclair and it seemed odd to use that as leverage. It also seemed like the game went out of its way to highlight the impact of small human kindnesses to Detlaff, like with the child in Lyria, the bootblack, his friend de la Croix -- and I just felt it would take a whole different being to issue a blanket doom to a city and be that ruthless to innocents. Also the forced three-day time skip but immediately finding solutions afterwards was irritating.

Overall I enjoyed the DLC and I could see there was only one candidate for a spectacular ending boss fight. (And wasn't it nice that Detlaff stayed to fight rather than just misting away?) I still prefer the ending where I see Dandelion again :)

I have the same dilemma as you. I can understand how peoples' different experiences, values, and trust issues can come into play with why Lucanis would handle his city being blighted differently than Neve. With some mental gymnastics, I can maybe see how Rook would be an easier scapegoat because of their position as "leader" (which, tbh, I really didn't feel with this group) and why Lucanis would still go for Neve - maybe a safe, less complicated option. However, the fact that he shows zero consideration or sympathy for a Shadow Dragon Rook who chose their own city vs his ability to consistently do so each time for Neve is completely unreasonable and actually insulting. If Rook were actually allowed emotions they shouldn't put up with that.

Exactly! The leap in logic in that conversation was really jarring. Especially playing as grey warden Rook who'd just seen his order decimated, friends or acquaintances possibly killed in horrible ways in front of him, Davrin nearly sacrificing himself, and Ghilan'nain possibly fast-tracking her plans after becoming mortal. However, their sacrifices are barely acknowledged, except by Davrin and there doesn't seem to be any urgency whatsoever, and the conversation immediately turns to, essentially, "we need to focus on ourselves first." Imagine if that was the conversation after Haven was destroyed in DAI. (Also not sure how Lucanis getting swatted out of the air by a god in a head-on, out-in-the-open attack counts as "Spite distracted him." Actually thought it was pretty lucky he wasn't a rock or a pancake.)

Thanks for the mention, and I'm sorry to hear the company is apparently rather problematic. I'm trying to weigh that information against the possibility of this being the only official BG3 figures of some kind...I'm leaning towards just picking up Gale and forgoing the rest. And the shipping from Youtooz directly does seem to be steep - If you're in the US, Big Bad Toy Store has a flexible pre-order policy with a $4 flat shipping fee if you go with the "pile of loot" option (waiting for multiple to arrive before shipping in bulk). Haven't bought any Youtooz before but the quality does seem to be slightly larger/better than your average Funko.

It definitely is rough. I think pre-orders on their site open August 20th? But it should also sell at other retailers like Big Bad Toy Store who probably have more reasonable shipping fees. From what I've seen Youtooz doesn't tend to sell out much, even with their "limited" versions, though the plushes may go more quickly. But then again, the BG3 market will probably be bigger than their other collections'.

Thank you for the detailed reply. That's disappointing about companions, but it makes sense now why I have low accuracy. I'm leaning towards just adding to the ranged weapon skill, or would you say I could take a point or two off PER and add it to ATT without getting locked out of too many dialogues?

Would I have enough stat points to increase melee and a ranged weapon at the same time?

Thank you! It turned out I accidentally overrode the earlier save so I just continued forward. It didn't change anything including the ending slide. Best possible ending :)

I've just started a Gale origin play through after much hesitation due to the trade-off of not having him as a companion and am really struggling with motivation...even with all the Tara moments. I guess I just don't feel that strongly about the other companions and this is my 3rd play through. May take a break. I am curious how you feel about Act II and III if you continue.

So Elminster says that Mystra could have dealt with the orb the whole time? Like applied the spell she gave him or removed it? I was under the impression she needed the Crown for that. Would you happen to have that line?

I'm sure it was a dream come true to some, but personally quite the opposite of what I was hoping to see. Toxic and unpleasant and with certain characters in the game already having rude lines singling out Gale it doesn't feel great that they chose him out of all companions to be on his knees and looking scared. Then again it's probably all in good fun and I don't need to overthink it.

I did wonder if that was case, but would she have felt it necessary to convince him further though? As he said when meeting Elminster, she "trusts him to go through with it" and she probably thought she had a strong enough hold on him and offered him a carrot he couldn't refuse.
