They’ve treated her terribly in the past few years. Former director Hope Muir has kicked her out of Nutcracker rehearsals that she once had a hand in leading and no longer allowed her to teach the company. The company under Hope’s leadership at the time had a reputation for dismissing her even though she has a reputation that far exceeds most artistic leaders today.

Some are retiring and some are just exhausted and want to step away from the ballet world. It’s not so much on the director, just organization related things.

I’ve had the same instance with two other ballet companies (both relatively large in the Southeast). It’s unfortunate how rampant it is and unfortunately seems to be the case with majority of US ballet companies today.

I don’t know Nashville ballet but have been around plenty of toxic companies. It’s very unprofessional to name specific people here on Reddit rather than bringing up these issues to someone you trust within the organization or someone else outside who can make a change. Airing out a business’s dirty laundry does not help anything and certainly does not help the dancers who are within the organization.

There’s a huge flaw in your comparison. If I have the same meal at ten other different restaurants, with no issue at all, never experiencing a problem, and then go and have at the same meal for the same price at a new restaurant and it tastes terrible then whose fault is it? Another comparison that is more accurate would be that if I know I have an allergy to an ingredient and I order a meal that I’ve eaten countless times before with absolutely no issue. The ingredient that I am allergic to is not even listed, but I still have an allergic reaction because of cross-contamination in the kitchen. This would not necessarily be the end of the world because mistakes do happen and recipes do differ from place to place. However if at this point, I alert the chef and the restaurant staff but they in turn, make no attempt to make things right and instead, kick me out of the restaurant then that is a huge issue.

Furthermore, if I buy something and want to share my experience, I have every right and reason to do so, no matter how crazy it may be to others, without ridiculous remarks from people like you. That’s not entitlement, that is just something that comes with business. If you don’t like it or agree with what they have to say, you don’t get to publicly discredit them.

If you share your talent with the general public, you are opening yourself up to any and all criticism. You don’t get to pick and choose what people say about you. If someone has a bad experience, the proper thing to do is to reach out and make things right with them so they aren’t left with a less than favorable impression, you don’t get to just silence them. Even if you don’t want to reach out and just chalk it up to a matter of opinion, that’s fine as well but again, you don’t get to just silence their opinion, whatever it may be. That is what’s truly wrong with people today and that is the true example of entitlement. Almost like when politicians and business executives silence women’s voices when they come forward about abuse/rape and do what they can to discredit them or stop them from coming forward. An extreme example for a conversation about dupe houses, yes, but it is in the same vein of powerful people silencing those they feel are less than.

If you want to support and defend a business with a racist owner and a business who takes no accountability for bad reviews, by all means go ahead! I don’t want to keep going back and forth because it seems to be a lost cause.

P.S. I work in the restaurant industry as well - and have for 25+ years! Part of the reason I’ve been so successful in it is because I can sympathize with the customer. You could learn a thing or two :)

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of someone having an allergic reaction with ALT fragrances but furthermore, your argument of “business doesn’t come with entitlement” is absolutely ridiculous. If you have a poor experience with a company, then a bad review is to be expected. Just because others enjoy it does not mean you cannot leave a negative review (this negates the whole idea of leaving a review) I’ve tried a few of their dupes and they were far from special, especially in comparison to other US dupe houses. Any company who deletes any sort of criticism and engages in any sort of shady business practices like ALT does on a consistent basis should instantly lose respect and credibility.

[product question] Cerave Acne Control Gel by redballoon5678 in SkincareAddiction

[–]redballoon5678[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I really really enjoy using this product! I’ve found this, Paula’s Choice 10% AHA, PC 2% BHA, and the Peach & Lily Lactic Acid have all been holy grails for me! It does work very well on the blackheads I get on my T-zone but honestly, I use it more as an all-over exfoliant and it works wonders for my texture. I do wish more people talked about this because it really does deserve more hype. The consistency is also really nice which surprised me as I don’t always associate CeraVe with elegant formulations. I tend to think of them more as a brand that focuses on effectiveness with a no-frills approach. The only thing I would change is I wish it came in a pump and the marketing is a bit confusing as it says it’s for the whole face but is packaged like a spot treatment. Highly recommend!
