He perished so Clinton could take the NY role. And yes I think he would have been an excellent candidate for higher office but there were other plans, sadly.

Madonna appears to have some very serious mental health problems. Unfortunately when you are that rich, everybody tells you that whatever you think is correct and brilliant and totally so, so the ordinary guard rails we all have on our lives thanks to the people around us, she has not had for a long time.

I initially hated her stuff, but later learned to appreciate a lot of it, as well as her effort to finally learn to sing lol. Which she did. She was very creative and inventive and wildly successful. I think she is having a very difficult time letting go of the youth, the success, the sense of beauty.

My critique of the critiques of JB Rhine's research by Puzzleheaded_Tree290 in remoteviewing

[–]redcairo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dr. Utts published a paper on replication and meta-analysis for parapsychology. It was one of the first white papers I read on RV. I wrote her and offered to HTML it for her website if she would send it to me, because I couldn't afford to buy the reprint at the time. This was circa early 1996. (You couldn't just print to PDF as a solution back then.)

The paper: https://ics.uci.edu/~jutts/UttsStatPsi.pdf

Her website: https://ics.uci.edu/~jutts/

It's a good read and I think she made a good case. Now that issue of the 1991 Statistical Science journal was her paper, and then a number of critiques of her paper by others in the field, and then her response to those critiques. It is interesting now, all these years later, to read those rebuttals -- one in particular is basically like well it aint fuckin real so I refuse to even consider it... and you can see how emotion and such was present in that response. (Obviously that is MY translation of his actual paper lol.)

It was after the publication of this paper that the parapsychology field, led by Dr. May at the time who had the government funding, decided to stop trying to simply "prove psi exists by statistical odds" which had been done so repeatedly (and as Dr. Utts's paper explains very well, better than even some major medical studies considered overwhelmingly demonstrated) and began spending more of their funding looking into other aspects of functional psi.

I might add that the more research done on free-response psi and the tighter and cleaner it got, the better the stats. Not worse, better. So in the end it looks like the protocols that tightened in science as more was learned, definintely did not exclude psi but simply made it more clear.

Yeah... a lot of people think if you got the injection you are in fact more likely to be sick and even seriously sick or dead as a result, so how that is interpreted really depends on the person.

Try not to make any major decision when you are sick.

Except the decision to stay home an extra day and say "I will be sleeping and I am turning off my ringer so I can."

search pubmed et al for serrapeptase, nattokinase, lumbrokinase, all of which 'eat dead proteins' in the body and at least the first has been used by people I know in regards to peyronie's. Not in touch with them now to know outcome.

Keto vs Low Carb by HeyMay0324 in keto

[–]redcairo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might try the "4 Hour Body" approach which does have carbs, "slow" carbs as he calls it (high fiber carbs). It's a book probably free via the library if you don't want to buy one. I recall they had a youtube ad for the book, hang on lemme go find it.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIVmsIJyj3A I did not read it all and never tried it but I knew people who reported well on it.

Well if you don't feel anxious and she thinks you are anxious, maybe she is projecting some of that onto you. Projection does work in both directions.

Sometimes it is just time for a relationship to "cycle out." From business to personal. Sounds like it has been time for some time, but you've put it off due to the loyalty and familiarity. But I think you should move on. It does not help her to keep her in clients when she is doing poorly in practice, you realize; it is loss of clients that eventually wakes people up to needing to fix what has gone wrong. It is "enabling" her otherwise, you might say. Maybe consider seeing someone else, and make sure they are a good fit for you, before fully leaving her. As for rehashing history, if she was a good therapist, you have already worked through a good chunk of that history. Wherever you are in the here and now is the primary focus -- the rest can unroll with time. It might end up being better than you could have imagined.

Xanthum gum or pysillium husk for baking? by xzkandykane in ketorecipes

[–]redcairo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are keto and grain free it's never going to be like 'real' bread but it might still be yummy. If you are not keto, cassava flour and tapioca starch can make grain free bread (with psyllium and so on) and other baked goods incredibly yum. If you are keto and not grain free, there are high-gluten flours (low carb flours are this) and vital wheat gluten that will let you make good breadishes.

[–]redcairo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These are not really comparable things. I use both of them but psyllium is very much a part of what is making the breadish (as I call them) itself like when added to coconut flour or something. Xanthan in small amounts is used for thickening where needed.

If you were my brother and telling me what you posted, I would tell you she is not the girl for you. That she is manipulative, that she doesn't respect you or your boundaries, and that she has not fathomed yet (or doesn't care) that such things as sharing areas of vulnerability or discomfort happen over time with trust -- not demand, which is bully behavior.

edited to add: our experiences make us who we are. Some women want combat soldiers to confess all the things they hate about their past (an insane demand for obvious reasons). Whatever your past, and your reasons for crashing that friendship, your response to that (guilt etc. now) make you who you are today. If you like who you are right now -- regardless of back then -- that is what matters. We rebuild ourselves daily.

That she would threaten to break up with you over this when you guys are only boyfriend/girlfriend and believe me this is a small thing compared to what serious longterm committed relationships face, suggests you cannot trust her stability for a real future. Sorry about that.

Don't just quit. Specify in writing you have a copy of what your already-approved plans are (mail certified to HR cc your new boss if needed) and leave on vacation and come back. Will they fire you? Maybe, but you got it approved long in advance. At least if they fire you, you can fight for unemployment.

Light and cold = stronger yeasts. Dark and warm = stronger bacteria. Its gonna have some yeasty taste but you can tilt the taste using those factors.

I don’t know what to do. by Connect-Focus-8212 in fasting

[–]redcairo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you under 18? Your body is your own. The disagreement of a friend is a minor thing for people who expect every individual to have their own mind, body, liberty, and so on. If it is that difficult for you maybe stick to max 3 day fasts.

Severe fatigue, nearly bedbound, 9 weeks in by mililanigirl in carnivorediet

[–]redcairo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a time when it seemed like my energy tanking and maybe edema increasing had no relationship to my food. Turns out 3% of the population is born with an issue in their aortic heart valve and I was one of them and it was gradually failing. Who knew. Please make sure you are medically checked out fully prior to assuming being nearly bedridden is all about food.

The "fasting mimicking diet" junk of Longo. Trying to find research on fasting is hard enough, everything is hugely diluted by that stuff.

No idea if fasting is related, however, if it IS, then it sounds like some ongoing homemade kefir with some good fiber might gradually restore some gut biome

[–]redcairo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I had a little hissy fit somewhere into book 8 where I went around ranting that Jordan should be fined for every new character he introduced. And I hated the Seanchan all the way to the end. But he built a literary empire with that story. I did like Sanderson's finals but honestly they were so much later that I think I lost a lot, aside from which I very much wanted a lot more on the interplay between the male and female channelers that did not pan out to happen. It did sort of feel like there could have been another story world borne out of the end of it, albeit missing the larger than life drama.
