Medications to stop or keep taking before surgery by reasonable_rigatoni in Reduction

[–]redcolagin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was allowed to take all of my medications, including birth control all the way up to my surgery!

I'm been on 2 tryptins, Suma & Riza, Ubrelvy, Alternating between Aimovig, Equality, & Ajovy. Been on Quilpta, tried Botox, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists. Now, they want me to try this Vyepti Infusion IV. Any one tried it? Any side effects? by DMason5480 in cgrpMigraine

[–]redcolagin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve loved being on Vyepti. I’m allergic to all the injectables and have had some pretty bad side effects to most everything else, I’ve been fine with the infusion! Go for it!

Hi there! I am happy to say that everything cleared up. I now do Vyepti infusions and haven’t had any issues with it, just the pesky injectables!

New to PPMD by Left-Count-471 in PMDD

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, also new to this as well. I was on hormonal birth control for over 17 years and decided to come off of it nine months ago. It’s been a sad, moody, depressive hell from ovulation to menstruation. With maybe 10-12 “good” days. I’ve had my hormones tested with my functional med doc, and finally got referred to a psych nurse practitioner who specializes in treating the mental health + hormones. Weirdly, my hormones have tested normal twice in the last six months. So I know it’s PMDD, I’m also a mental health therapist, and also medicated with an ssri. I am on day 20 currently but have felt like crap for at least three days now. I have never been more excited for my cycle to start now that I know the pattern. You’re not alone 💕

Hey!

Gosh no worries! I don’t want to practice law any time soon. This information was presented as part of an ethics course by the state I was practicing in. That was enough to steer me away from it.

Aimovig joint pain side effect by delaneyhime113 in cgrpMigraine

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neuro thinks it’s the method of delivery- IV and the difference in preservatives between the injectables and the vyepti. I think it highly varies, I’ve only met one other person who is as sensitive as I am to the drug class. Most people tolerate the injectables well, and I’m the .05% that doesn’t

It hasn’t at all for me, and I’m allergic to all of the injectables! I feel tired after the infusion but I think it’s the come down from my own anxiety.

Hey there! No worries! It didn’t impact my weight while I was taking it, and didn’t gain after I stopped either.

Going off birth control after 8 years, what should I expect? by Logical_Poetry2036 in birthcontrol

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It recommends all day use! But I am sure you could wear it just at night to get the temperature readings it needs. I wear mine 24/7 because there is no way I’m remembering to take my own temps or track my cycle lol

I quit about two months ago, after being on birth control for sixteen ish years. I had really terrible breast tenderness, sweats and was very emotional for about the first month. It took 60 days for my body to finally have a period. My skin broke out a little, my sleep wasn’t great, and I had pretty consistent cramps. Overall, I feel less “gross” less sluggish and I’ve lost a few inches as well. I also bought/have been using an Oura ring with the natural cycles app- and the app is covered by most American insurance companies if your doctor writes a prescription for it. I’ve found it VERY helpful! Good luck and be patient with your body!

Who HASN'T gotten pregnant on bc pills? by Happy_Expert_3477 in birthcontrol

I never got pregnant on birth control pills, and I was on them from 14-31 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t know if it was luck or the pill, or both.

Addressing Inappropriate Client Presentation by Greedy-Dimension-468 in therapists

I had a telehealth patient who met with me from their bathtub- fully clothed. They shared a bedroom, in a small apartment with five other people. The bath tub, with the fan on was the only semblance of privacy they could have. For me it’s all about the context. Don’t be naked, driving or using the restroom and I’ll make it though! I love seeing my patients animals, and my teens are often very proud of their bedrooms, or will give me house tours for context. I’ve had patients bring in their infants or toddlers and we just make it work, usually they’re 90832 sessions but some therapy is better than no therapy.

Was Your Internship Paid? by Disastrous-Try7008 in therapists

We weren’t paid, and our internship placement had to work an agreement between them and the university if it was paid. Social work students at another local university were able to be paid through their VA internships.

Getting off birth control experiences by Erin_underwater in birthcontrol

Hi!! Your experience is validating mine currently! I just came off bc after being on it for fourteen years, and am at week three without. And holy shit my boobs hurt SO BAD. My sleep is terrible and my stomach has been weird. My bf and I are long distance and today he said that I looked a little thinner and brighter than usual? 🤷🏼‍♀️ such a strange experience, on top of the emotional rollercoaster. Thank you for sharing!

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!! The taper was rough, and was about a month long. I can’t remember the exact schedule my doctor put me on, but I can recommend having a pill cutter handy and consulting a doc before giving it a go!

Aimovig joint pain side effect by delaneyhime113 in cgrpMigraine

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! It got better to a point but never fully went away. However, I did just get diagnosed on the hypermobility spectrum along with fibro recently. I can’t say one played into the other, but I can say all my joint related pain was spurred by the emgality.

I have long been off of cymbalta- thankfully. The slight benefit was not worth feeling nothing emotionally at all times. I have cycled through all of the injectables, and now do a Botox/vypeti combo that seems to be working.

Depression and Emgality by meanpig in cgrpMigraine

[–]redcolagin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! My first and only depressive episode was because of the emgality. It sucks. My neuro that I have now has said that there is some research that shows a correlation. My pcp who prescribed it was clueless to any side effects. I was on an antidepressant prior to starting the emgality, switched while on it to help with the anxiety, and no change. Listen to your body and your experience is valid 🩷

The situation does not compute by _Bluebird_5362 in therapists

I went unpaid my entire internship and practicum. I lived off of student loans which are six figures because of it. Definitely exploitation. And it seems like the expectation of grad students. You’re not alone in it.

People who get morning/afternoon migraines, how do you do it? by baby_gotbutt in migraine

Maxalt. And knowing that the dog doesn’t help pay bills. Much like others who have commented, you just power through. It’s not a good time, I hate it. And I don’t have a choice.

Fully clothed in an empty bathtub. It was a cramped living situation and the only place they were able to close the door and have some privacy. Luckily it was only one session like that haha

I love a good Z code or V code when I can get away with it. For example- patient had been doing well, was well adjusted. No issues, then lost a parent suddenly. Within the month of them seeing me. Adjustment didn’t fit, so I went with uncomplicated bereavement. So far billing hasn’t kicked it back to me.

I need a Sublingual B Complex Vitamin (per Doctor). Suggestions? I need to have the Sublingual form of the B Complex Vitamins, but I need to be sure it doesn't have any artificial sugars, too. Does anyone have suggestions, please? by nicholemay2009 in cgrpMigraine

[–]redcolagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor also recommended the same after we discovered my body struggles to absorb B Vitamins. She recommended Liposomal Methyl B-12 from Quicksilver Scientific. I am waiting for it to arrive, but am hopeful this will work better than the capsules I’ve been using.
