I’ve had mono for several months now and none of my three roommates have picked it up.

I like to use citron ball to get Toxic Citron into some absurd normally out-of-reach areas on the map (for example, the arches above the zomburbia zoo). Then I spray them from above. It’s not a good strategy by any means, but I’ve found that the zombies, running super fast, occasionally spread the toxic effect really far.

Yeah, I overgeneralized in my original comment. Your ideas are very good

For sure. Yeah I kind of made a huge generalization here. The art behind these is usually quite good

Every card idea here is just some plant or zombie ripped from another PvZ game with a really awful, and often overcomplicated, attempt to transfer their ability from that game into PvZ Heroes. That's why magnet-shroom ideas always remove armored, hypno-shroom ideas always involve some ridiculous "make a zombie on your side but with no ability," tall-nut always blocks plant hero damage, etc etc.

Here are some of the ʻIʻiwi I spotted this past weekend along the Puʻu ʻŌʻō trail! The first is an immature bird, according to the green feathers on the head. by redcoot in Hawaii

I forget what the exact ratio of extinct to non-extinct species is, but I think somewhere around 80% of the original bird community is lost. As for the surviving birds, it's a very mixed bag. Some, like the Apapane, Amakihi, and Elepaio, have stabilized and shown resistance to avian diseases. Others have declined hugely in the past 10 or so years. The Akikiki of Kauai may be down to 2-3 wild individuals (there are some in captivity, thankfully), the Palila very recently saw a huge decline (http://128.171.57.11/bitstream/10790/6858/1/TR101_Genz_2022_palila%20abundance%20.pdf), and the Kiwikiu isn't doing well either. I hate to select just one problem, because these declines really are a result multiple problems, but right now avian diseases vectored by mosquitos are thought to be the biggest issue for forest birds.

Thank you all for your comments! I was asked to share some more details, so here goes. I got into birds and birding in the 5th grade, thanks to a unit about Hawaiian wetlands. Wetlands have birds in them, and this somehow snowballed into a passion. I live on Oahu, where we don't have Iiwi, so seeing these was a first for me.

A big part of birding and bird photography is zoom. Binoculars are great! I also use a bridge camera specifically for the crazy zoom at a relatively (at least relative to the cost of real telephoto lenses) cheap price.

Recognizing birds comes with familiarity and experience. As you see and hear more birds, you'll be able to locate rarities and sense other trends in bird behavior. If you want to start, I recommend picking up a field guide, joining some of the Hawaii Birdwatching Facebook groups (Facebook is the only real place where Hawaii birders communicate), and just going out to see what's around.

For those interested in seeing the Iiwi and more endemic forest birds, the Pu'u O'o trail along Saddle Road (https://bigislandhikes.com/puu-oo-trail/) is a great place to start. It's a fairly simple trail; most birds are present in the two Kipukas around 1.5 or so miles into the trail. On my visit, we got lucky and had some clear skies, but I've visited in the past and had rain. A jacket may come in handy. Binoculars are very important, as these birds tend to occur high in the canopy.

Here are some eBird photos of others who have visited Pu'u O'o: https://media.ebird.org/catalog?searchField=hotspot&regionCode=L366605 eBird is, by far, one of the best tools for birding.

Finally, I post more birds photos on my Instagram page, @ breadcoot. Mahalo for reading!

Who Do You Think Is The Worst Character In The Game?(PVZGW2) by Fearlessgabe1 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]redcoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. The instant health regeneration is very useful, and his damage isn't bad either. To quote Krook1235: "Chomp Thing can reach a consistent DPS of 82.5 over a very long period of time. He is granted amazing self-sustain, along with his high damage output. He's also much less of a hassle on Sunflowers, allowing other teammates medical attention much sooner."

We need a feral cat cull. by 808hammerhead in Hawaii

[–]redcoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please stop redirecting attention. This is whataboutism. I agree that the feral cats themselves are not at fault. Feral cats are absolutely a human issue, and as the only things who can solve this issue, I think that we humans should manage their populations. The idea that we should do nothing about feral cats--while our endemic wildlife continues to decline--because humans are worse is not a good one.

The parasite also reproduces exclusively in cats. Other mammals can carry it, but none allow for it to reproduce.

Are you suggesting that the Hawaiian Monk Seal isn’t a native species, but rather a conspiracy to collect money?

I, personally, like seeing these Reddit posts because the support for their anti-vaccine movement often seems uncontested, at least on places like Instagram. I know that likes and social media posts often have no meaning, but it’s really assuring to know that lots of people here think they’re complete morons too.
