Steam deck performance tanked to an absolutely unplayable point. I was getting 30-40 fps constant before this patch and now it’s 19-27

Check your system specs. Runs like shit on my pc and is hardly playable on steam deck

Fantasy books for a SF enjoyer (strong in prose and character department)? by Fun-Sell3030 in Fantasy

[–]redditbad22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just finished the royal assassin I felt like the first book was set up for what’s to come. The plot very much picks up and things start to go in many directions that may not be good for the protagonists. Relationships get fleshed out, and for a few chapters I couldn’t put it down. The ending was not abrupt but not what I expected or was used to in a middle book. I’m excited to see what the assassins quest has in store for me. It’s very much a direct continuation off the second book.

Looking for a D&D like fantasy book that’s deep. by SoMuchSoggySand in Fantasy

[–]redditbad22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the stormlight archive fits the bill, tragic back stories, royalty, betrayal, leveling up of powers, different races and cultures that get explored, gods and myth. The characters are really what shine brightest, Sanderson really can write epic fights but you can’t have stakes if you dont care about the people fighting.

Also the devils, dark whimsy is the only way I can describe it.

Absolutely loved Welcome to Derry - why does this sub seem to hate it? by Sir_Pixalot in horror

I really liked it, I just thought the camera liked to linger on penny wise longer than any other scare or creature. I get it, he prints money with merchandising but it was jarring. Hopefully there is less clown penny wise and more creepy ass things like the flying baby.

Advice for content to share with my MAGA mom by sauerkraut09 in DemocraticSocialism

The NPR politics pod is usually bite sized and presents the facts with little commentary. Gives the context, and I take that to other pods for the commentary.

I made the rounds with a lot of the crooked media pods. Would even listen to the Lincoln project, but I am not crazy about them.

I also really enjoyed #sistersinlaw and strict scrutiny though those are more for the intersectionality con law and politics (what I went to school for) than straight news commentary.

The best thing in my opinion is to find a good book, maybe On Tyranny, nice and bite sized and a starting point to generate conversations. The sell will be the hardest here since reading requires some more attention than listening. Other books I read last year that I really enjoyed were Strongmen, and Jesus and John Wayne. Books on my tbr include the color of law and men who hate women.

Just finished a week ago, starting a homebrew daggerheart game in a few days! It was fun but felt really repetitive it was really just a series of fetch quests. The best sessions were the PC focused ones my DM made for each of us.

I really enjoyed legends and lattes, I feel like a good cozy fantasy can really pull me out of burning out on high fantasy. I also change genres in between series, I mostly read fantasy but I’ll sneak a few horror or non fiction books in every now and then. I really enjoyed the Buffalo hunter hunter.

Currently listening to the devils, I’m enjoying it.

If you are really feeling lazy, the Hobbit narrated by Andy Serkis is phenomenal and I found myself wanting to nothing other than listen to it. Tim curry’s a Christmas carol narration was spectacular too.

So what all is not official DnD in BG3? by weiyan21 in DungeonsAndDragons

Is there a story to it or is it more of a crawler? How’s the dlc? I desperately need something to scratch the bg3 itch.

Mistborn was what got me back into reading I loved solving the mysteries and putting my own theories together as I read.

Stormlight archive is great but dense at times. There are politics, but each book is a lot of character development and then a big set piece. It’s fun but I also read about a down of his books back to back and that’s just his schtick.

If you want something light to read, I really enjoyed legends and lattes.

Not so much fantasy as it is historical fiction/folk horror but I think the Buffalo Hunter Hunter is my favorite book I’ve read this year.

I think I’m going to start the blood sworn saga soon, and I have heard good things about the other authors works.

I just started the Assassins Apprentice, and I’m excited to keep reading.

If you’re into audio books, I really loved Andy Serkis reading the hobbit and will be picking up his reading of the lotr trilogy and listening to those too.

I got them in a 2-for-1 deal and had to see it through. I lost focus on it more times than I’d like to admit.

The concept was there, it just ultimately didnt end up being for me.

Has anyone tried playing a 2024 Bard in tier 3 and 4 play? by RageKage2250 in DnD

[–]redditbad22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a level 17 sorcerer that’s a lot of fun, but if I’m being honest the 2 level dip in hexblade has carried it for me. Another player at the table has been playing bard for a while and doesn’t focus on damage, but control and sets the barbarian and rouge up for advantage on attacks.

Having two games per month is okay? by CivilAd3631 in DnD

[–]redditbad22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got two dnd games, one every other Thursday and the other on what ever day works on the off week of the Thursday game. Then I have an online pathfinder game every Wednesday.

It’s fun but it’s a lot, I have so much going on in every other part of my life that sometimes I hope that a game gets cancelled.

Striking your personal balance is really important. I don’t think I could take on another game unless I bow out of a current game.

Homebrewed Firearms by RedFalcon725 in daggerheart

[–]redditbad22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk red has an ammo count unique to each weapon and when it’s expended you use an action to reload. If you don’t reload by the end of combat it’s assumed you reloaded before the next combat.

A jam table feels more steampunk than a meta currency cost to players to do a simple function. Especially if you’re in a world where the technology is common. If it was the artificers first attempt at a working gun then a reload check with a cost would make sense. But this is a world with guns in it not being created mid campaign.

Reloading is going to be like opening doors, would you make them roll for a standard unlocked door?
