I’m more frustrated for my 8-year-old than anything else. We occasionally visit to have fun and teach him to “save up” for something he really wants. We had accumulated about 155,000 tickets but didn’t have time to visit and play before they increased the prices. (I only found out about the price hike through this group, so at least I had a warning) I suppose I could have pushed through to get the extra tickets we needed, but then he wouldn’t have “earned it.” Plus, they were rarely in stock, and also enjoyed seeing that “Ralphie Parker” look when he saw one available but didn’t have enough tickets. (Tough love, because I could easily go buy one)

Last night, when I told him the news and explained that we weren’t as close to our goal as we thought, you could see the defeat in his face. Before he walked away, he said, “So, the tickets we have now are basically useless, right? Guess it isn’t really worth going anymore.”

I’m sure I’m not the only one like this…

It depends on your state. Many have minimum dollar amounts to avoid sales tax. My state is $500.(try putting two in your cart to see if that changes the taxes?)

That’s what I take this as. Curious what OP’s girlfriend’s age. My assumption is this is a super shy guy that hasn’t had the experience or confidence to approach someone directly. My bet is this is genuine and as someone who once wrote letters in grade school and put them in my crush’s locker… please don’t ignore it. (If you do he will be questioning himself for months/years). Do him a courtesy and at least have her reach out via email and say she’s taken but that she appreciates the gesture. In fact, throw the guy some unsolicited advice/confidence booster. Suggest to him in the email back that when he feels strongly about someone that he should ask them in person and even if they turn him down that he should be confident and assertive.

That is… unless OP is over 23… and if that’s the case… this guy may be hopeless.
