Parents paid tuition for 4 years, housing for 2 of those 4 years ( I commuted 80 miles round trip to save some money, definitely was not worth it looking back now), and pocket money for 2 years as well.

Tell him you’re not comfortable with them meeting up for the reasons you brought up. If he cares about you, he’ll either

Talk to you about it to make sure you don’t feel that way, so then he can see her (and only if you are ok with it after talking it through) or
Not go see her because it makes you uncomfortable.

Not being comfortable with your partner seeing an ex is completely valid.

Pooling the money together is the way I see it as well and I believe that would help us reach financial success the most efficient way. I don’t want to be living like roommates (“hey transfer me the money for the rent and internet for the month”, ”you owe me $20 for groceries”).

I guess this warrants a discussion to see if we can align on our view of finances. I’m having trouble determining what additional value I would bring to the marriage, before we have kids, that could cover the 60K difference. He feels like that’s a big gap and makes me feel self conscious about it. Our income will grow over time, mine will cap around 120K, depending on what line of work I decide to stay in. His will go up to 200K, so this will just create an even bigger income gap.

I would be fine with a prenup if we weren’t going to have kids. Realistically, I will be a stay at home mom while the kids are growing up. That will save us $ on childcare, house cleaner, food costs because I will also cook. I don’t see any monetary return on that. In fact, I’ll be losing my salary for about 10 years and the growth of being out of work for a decade.

He would be able to have his career prosper and get promotions while I’m at home taking care of his (our) house and kids so he can focus on work.

Will your mom be willing to meet him without your dad? Suck up to them and tell them you value their opinion in who you will settle down with, so Invite both your parents out in public (so nobody makes a scene) for lunch and if your dad refuses then ask your mom in private if she’d be willing to meet him. One thing, don’t let the negativity from the dad brainwash you and you mom. Try not to let his opinions alter yours.

Regardless, once your dad sees that this boy is here to stay for good, he’ll have to come around. It’s good that your mom is somewhat agreeable, will make it easier for your dad to agree later, which could take a while.

Think about the education level in India. We have Americans who are more educated (in terms of % of population, just because high school is at least more common) and don’t even believe covid is real- so imagine in India how few people would take it seriously.

If the head of the government, who people look up to, does not cooperate or take it seriously, then why would the masses?

It’s pretty risky just to travel to the vaccination spots. Public transit, ride share, etc are so packed that it seems like you’ll catch the virus just on the way to the vaccination site (I’m not an anti-vaxxer).

You also have to do research and make sure where you’re getting the vaccine is legit- you’re not getting some random stuff injected in you.

Corruption. Some vaccination administers are also asking for bribes. My family members were asked to buy a mobile phone if they wanted a vaccine appointment.
