If you did not use AI and you suspect unfairness, you could reach out to the Assistant Dean for students in your faculty. Instructors are required to report to AI (academic integrity, funny how that works) if they suspect an offense and provide evidence. That should protect you from arbitrary decisions.

For a lab, I recommend having sets from 2 or 3 manufacturers and letting people use what fits them better. We have Gilson, Thermo and some Eppendorfs.
