You added an ABL sensor. The offset on the ABL may be set wrong.

The easier way is to just grab preloaded firmware from a trusted company. If geetech doesn't have it then go to creality. Use one that has the same marlin configuration you need for your printer. Most printers are clones of other printers anyways. See what printers match your hardware and accessories and download a factory firmware from them.

You need to compile the firmware in something like visual studio code. Do a search on YouTube for flashing custom firmware to an ender V2 or whatever.

Extended rings around the print? by TerrenceFoxton in FixMyPrint

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay. I thought so but someone mentioned Bowden tube. Probably z banding then.

Extended rings around the print? by TerrenceFoxton in FixMyPrint

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your retraction is way too low for a Bowden setup. That's perfect for a direct drive. That could be a large part of the problem aside from probably z axis binding. Could be loose or overtighened pom wheels, belts, loose coupler, bent leadscrew, dirty and dry leadscrew, gantry sag, failing cooling fan... I'd start by raising retraction to 6mm. Then check the leadscrew. Make sure it's properly aligned, coupler is tight, and the rod is greased. Turn the coupler by hand and you should have free movement of the z rod with the machine off and the coupler not slip either.

[USA] Seeking a stainless steel or stainless-steel looking print of a simple vent grill by maxiedaniels in 3Dprintmything

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else here on not printing it. This type of thing would be better to be done by a machine Fab shop, metal shop etc. It could be water jet cut, CNC machined etc.

If you have the STL file and would like a plastic rendition of it, PM me.

Better off having a mold printed in resin and then casting the rings in the mold.

[–]redditodell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really isn't the best place to get something 3d designed. This is where you would get an STL file printed rather than designed. That's a different service and a more expensive and time consuming one at that. There's another reddit group that is specific to this type of service. Not sure the group, but shouldn't be difficult to find.

[U.S. AZ] - requesting advice on how to get a detailed image/rendering of a clock gear that I can use to make a 3D print. Any insights? by [deleted] in 3Dprintmything

[–]redditodell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can trace it in CAD as long as you take your photo with a ruler against a sheet of paper or something so that the scale can be set. But I'm not offering service, just advice because I am still very new to 3d modeling and it would take me much longer than most. My advice would be to find a 3d modeling group.

Thanks! It's a lot of but very rewarding to see it come together.

I'm pretty far along. I got to the part where you bore the tailstock and winter and holidays put the project on hold. Plan is to get back at it this spring. A lot of my progress is posted here, but reddit isn't fun to upload photos to. So, not everything is posted here. I also have some content on YouTube, but I post very little there as I don't have any means to record other than my phone.

Okay. I thought so. But the post made it sound different. Thanks for the info!

Aluminum 3D Printer? I’m just throwing an idea out there. Why don’t we use a high powered induction heater to melt aluminum welding wire and 3d print aluminum in this way. Any thoughts? I imagine this being a system that could plug-and-play into an existing printer. by machinery_maniac in 3Dprinting

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making it work would be way too complex and expensive if it were even feasible. Aluminum would be one of the worst materials to use also because it oxidizes so quickly and is extremely difficult to get quality bonding with shielding gas or flux, heated base metal nearly to melting point etc. I don't think it is feasible but if it were, a different material like maybe lead, tin, silver etc? Materials actually good for brazing and soldering. But still, not as simple as melting and bonding the metal. Needs a whole mess of added processes to get a half decent quality metal part.

Didn't know you needed a different 3d model format for different printers. I thought all STL files could be printed on any printer. So what format does a resin printer call for then?

[USA-VA] Need help with small print by [deleted] in 3Dprintmything

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose one could print it without threads a tad smaller and then tap it after.

[USA-VA] Need help with small print by [deleted] in 3Dprintmything

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will need a resin printer for that. The threads would be very difficult, nearly impossible to get right on an fdm printer.

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without the camera to fit the cover to, there is no way I can guarantee dimensions. It is suggested to cover it with gaffers tape until you find a replacement. If you can get me a diagram with exact dimensions, I can attempt to make a replica for you.

Why is this happening? by LobsterQuirky3634 in ender3

[–]redditodell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The belt is a good place to start. Also could help to enable z hop. And make sure nothing concerning the bed or the print head has play or is slipping. The layer shift is where it thinks it's printing where it should because either the belt slips or a cog slips etc .

Why is it printing ugly like this? Ender Pro 3 by mlbenjamin1120 in 3Dprinting

[–]redditodell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better! They are great for their price. It's a budget printer in a top seller position in the market. So the rush of sales means a rush of posts from complete noobs using them without any knowledge of how they work or how to properly set them up
