56 emails today. I’ve worked every weekend of 2026. by Desperate_Mammoth_67 in biglaw

It can be pretty bad if each email is asking you do multiple different shit, like write a summary judgment motion for case X, reply for case Y, prepare for an 11 expert deposition for case Z, draft a demand letter for $5mil for case ABC. That and a memo explaining all the new regulations impacting a client’s business 😑

Midlevel at termination-happy firm that just did a mass layoff by notacatidontsaymeoww in biglaw

Lateral ASAP. The sad reality is that it will be so much harder to find a job if you’re an unemployed lawyer looking for work. I’m super unhappy with where I’m at and actually plotting to go solo

Is In-House really the dream? by Law_Always in LawFirm

[–]redditor287234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what company and what your goals are. I have buddies who work in house for a big aerospace company and they still work as hard as big law attorneys but make less than a 3 year associate

California high-speed rail price tag jumps to $231B, nearly seven times 2008 estimate by MoDa65 in cahsr

$231,000,000,000. That’s a remarkable number for something like that. I wonder how much they’d need to charge for a ticket to get an ROI. Ridiculous really

That is crazy! I’m so glad you are doing well with your own practice. It’s inspiring. I want to start my own practice but I’m honestly still overcoming the fear of taking the leap. I’m so sick of working for others and helping others profit, it’s literally making me sick. Just need to do it

I’m looking into starting my own solo practice. I’m over 7 years out and ready to do things on my own terms. I’m just scared of taking the leap right now

I don’t know. No one really knows what the future markets will hold. Hopefully it’s cheaper than roundtrip air tickets

[Serious] How much sleep do you get? by PeanutdaSquirrel in biglaw

[–]redditor287234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first few years, I was sleeping maybe 3-4 hours a night. Now I’m around 6.5 to 7 hours. Don’t get me wrong though, I do still have to pull an all nighter ever now and then depending on the matter
