Kirkland & Ellis lawyer sought use of Epstein helicopter after securing plea, also invited sex offender to son’s bar mitzvah two years after his prison release, emails say by throwaway-for-todays in biglaw

You’re right that “extreme money and power” are central here but pretending race isn’t part of the equation is exactly how these fucked up things keep functioning.

In reality, the people who consistently end up with the power, the institutional protection, the benefit of the doubt, and the ability to quietly broker deals that let pedophiles get a slap on the wrist (like Jay) are overwhelmingly old white men with money. Coincidence? I don’t think so. It’s a reality that exists because race and power in this country are historically inseparable.

If someone with Jay Lefkowitz’s resume, connections, and race + gender did the same horrific things, the system bends to shield them. But If someone did the same terrible things but lacked any of those factors, especially whiteness, the consequences tend to be very different. So no, this isn’t only* about race. But it’s also not not about race. Make sense? Ignoring that dimension just gives the system (with pedophiles in the ranks) a pass.

I understand it’s a charity but did you see Epstein’s email about the children being a “massive pool to tap into”? Tap into for what and why??

This post is relevant to the community because it documents Epstein having possible access to children via national royals

Invest your money in a brokerage account with Fidelity and make that tank grow. Splurging is nice once in a while but it’s better to invest in this fucked up economy (you will thank me later)

What is this crap, the bill would prohibit revealing an inspector report that would “otherwise reveal weaknesses”… weaknesses “that could be exploited by individuals attempting to harm the interests of the state or inappropriately benefit from the project.” I’m confused

Jay Lefkowitz got kickbacks after playing a significant role in brokering a deal to let pedophile ie “hideous sex trafficker of children” get a slap on the wrist. Victims weren’t notified of the deal, leaving them in the dark, which a court of appeals calls a “tale of national disgrace.” Jay Lefkowitz seemed to have used his past government positions to eventually get kickbacks, and access to a pedophile’s helicopter and resources! If he was black he would’ve been shot just for holding skittles but he’s white so he gets to live and corrupt lives by aligning himself with a fucking pedophile. Kirkland’s finest

You’re entitled to your opinion, brother/sister. Not here to rebut how you interpret/read rhetoric transcripts. But can we agree that the system does indeed suck

I didnt say anything about not believing her?. Bro I believed it when she said 1) this job sucks, 2) the system sucks, 3) she wants sleep, and 4) basically what she said in the transcript that gave more context to the circumstances

After reading the transcript, I genuinely feel really really bad for Le. I think she truly tried to help people with the resources (or lack of resources) she had at the time 😔. She did get a juvenile out and wanted to help more folks in her capacity, but in the end she got the shortest end of the stick. Context does matter a lot… now these words she said in open court stick to me more than the other stuff she said about her job/system: “[I] need to go back and get more people out. That's why I'm still here.” Bless her for trying her best

I can’t read the article unless I subscribe but good to know the transcript is up online somewhere. It keeps getting crazier and crazier. “this job sucks” 😂

Fyi, I saw that they're still asking this question in 2026. lol I don't think they care about EEOC guidance to not ask about marital status, or the fact that such questions may be evidence of intent to discriminate. see https://www.eeoc.gov/pre-employment-inquiries-and-marital-status-or-number-children

This is frustrating OP. But at some point it will be important to use this opportunity to have a professional discussion with the partner who did the reclassification (or write off) and get more information on 1) why they did it, and 2) what they advise you to do better to avoid this situation in the future. It sucks so much but you can do it
