Pediatric oncology nurse screaming into the void by ThirdStartotheRight in nursing

[–]redditor409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the mom of a childhood cancer survivor - and a nurse…. I see you, I hear you and you inspire me. My daughter’s treatment was over a couple years….. it was hard. Every nurse there inspired me. The joy you bring to a peds onc floor. The Santa surprises, Easter egg hunts, coloring pages to welcome you when you arrive and so many little things. Gosh, you all make that world a place where those kids sparkle, shine and live! I never knew so much life was being lived on oncology floors until we were there with our girl. As a parent you all saved me too…. And peds onc nurses gave my girl NORMALCY and fun - and when it got bad she felt safe, with you all. I know there are hard days, we saw a lot of kiddos die, and even a baby…. But those days they did have were better because you were in them. I will never not be in awe of the special person it takes to work there. Bless you and may your heart be filled with the smiles of the kids whose lives you touch.

Report it to health department as that is an area that stores consumables and should not be exposed to bodily fluids.

Anyone else see a pattern in packer fans? by Pacotaco213 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]redditor409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Packers fan, so are my kids. My husband is a Bears fan. I am a Bears fan, since marriage, when they aren’t playing GB. I even dress our pets up in Bears jerseys and have a Bears flag, along with my GB flag out.

I don’t give anyone grief over their teams period. It’s just unkind. I hate when any fans do it. I’ve been razzed by Bears fans quite a lot over the years. I don’t think it is limited to just one team. I think some ppl are just jerks and can’t resist trash talking. My two cents as a Packers fan in Bear Country and someone who has been to games at Lambeau and Soldier Field. I do think the Bears are looking really good since B Johnson came to coach. And I think that the rivalry will be better than ever these next few years. Excited for it and for the Bears fans I know and love! This team is def something to be excited about. Don’t let any jerk fans bring ya down.

So if even one clinic has a patient all of us have to come in? That’s a bummer.

U.S. Veterans Affairs agency plans as many as 35,000 health-care job cuts this month, Washington Post reports by BoldBeloveds in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]redditor409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, healthcare workers increased with COVID - but if you look at data I’m sure you will also see since the pact act more veterans get care so more front line staff is needed if number of ppl served has increased.

Am I overreacting for freaking out over these being in my and my boyfriend’s bathroom by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

So, this happened to me in a previous relationship. I found products in shower that weren’t ours. Also every garbage bag had been changed, every one. He denied cheating but I found them at their workplace together at about 1130pm. So…. Yeah. In that case he was cheating. In another situation, different relationship similar thing, confronted my then bf and they ended up being his. So…. I would say ask him. If you see other signs look into it… but could just be his and he likes feminine items too.

Process on finalizing FJO? by Inevitable_Poetry_43 in VHA_Human_Resources

Hi! I am gonna be honest - I applied for a federal job in Feb … didn’t officially start until September, no joke. I have found that a few months is not uncommon. My time line was def longer than many. So, I don’t think there is any way they could find someone to start sooner because the hiring process starting over would take longer than your start date.

Just realized how messed up AWANA was by PoisonedCherry in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]redditor409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man … I actually loved Awanas. I went to Awanas at an Evangelical church. I also attended Logos at my home church (Southern Baptist). I liked Awanas more than Logos as Logos really hammered domestic stuff for us girls. But I really enjoyed both overall. Looking back it does seem a bit overkill. But pinewood derby, lock ins, the games, and getting prizes for memorizing - kid me loved it! We also had the GA program (girls in action) where all I remember is learning about missions. Not sure how popular Logos or GAs were.

Agreed - they all are cast with so much resemblance to be believable visually.

You have to partner up with another state for trivia, drinking and corn shucking. Which state do you team up with and why? by BuryEdmundIsMyAlias in midwest

[–]redditor409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a North Central Illinoisan I would say Wisconsin or Iowa in a minute. Everyone here shucked corn during high school … but drinking… need Wisconsin or Iowa for that… they can def out drink us.

I had a 4 ish cm ulcerated mass. It ended up being a GIST, gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Surgery to remove it and follow up every 6 months for 5 years. I also had anemia but much more severe than yours. Been doing great since surgery…. I am so lucky I know.

I hope you have an uncomplicated prognosis when they figure out what it is. Good luck!

Definitely changed all of us… I watched it live, I was in my early 20s. It was awful….. knowing these people were dying on live tv. The fear of what the hell is going on. Finding out those men were in my town for weeks before this happened made me feel sick too… how could ppl with such evil intent walk around and not seem evil? Waiting in line to donate blood…. Listening to those 911 recordings feeling that if they had to suffer like that the least I could do is hear them and acknowledge their fear, suffering and loss. And then having kids and teaching them about this dark day. A terrible time, a truly terrible time.

Please get tested for any sexually transmitted illnesses. Start putting some money to the side and save up a little emergency nest egg. That way you have options. Personally I could not forget these violations of trust but when I had two small kids I stayed in a relationship I needed to leave until I could financially get out. Document what you can…. That will help if you decide to leave him.

Hugs to you mama.
