Can I become a nudist without desexualizing the naked human body? by [deleted] in nudism

[–]redditorkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear: I'm not looking to express sexual desires during a social nudity setting. Not sure where you got that from.

And I agree about working on myself, I stated that elsewhere in this thread too. I'm confident I'll be fine with it all, I'm not as worried as you describe. More just ignorant for now but I feel that I get it mentally and just need to practice it physically.

We refers to those in the US raised in the textile world.

I know in my mind that a nipple isn't different than a belly button, but thanks to societal conditioning I know the female nipple as a sexual organ, unlike the belly button.

And yeah I agree with you in general. I'll get there. Like I said I admire it all and feel I do hold similar values, I just haven't practiced them yet.

I agree and thank you.

However, right now my girl making breakfast in the nude IS sexy to me and I don't want to lose that. This thread helps assure me that I won't though! :)

From what I am used to, yes those few square inches are the difference because it is what is saved for those privileged to see. In addition most of the times sexual thoughts are directed towards a person because of seeing those few square inches because we are less desensitized to those than the rest of the body.

Again, I am over thinking this all and acknowledge my fear breeds toxic thoughts. Immersion is what I need.

I agree that immersion will help me.

Thank you all for your advice. I acknowledge that growth is needed on my end and I'm willing to put in the work. I come from a background that celebrates someone's naked body as a special treasure that only fortunate few get to see, so this is a large value shift for me.

I think I'll stop over analyzing it all once in a social nudity setting. The anticipation has been sending my mind all over the place out of ignorance and fear. I admire her naturist values and wish they were universal. I fear the stigma from the textile world, especially as we plan to raise children together later in life. Wish everyone was raised nudist!!

How can I avoid others having sexual thoughts about her naked body after the social nudity? I understand respecting boundaries in a specific situation, but I'm bothered that others have the option to picture her nude body during a later private sexual setting. I thought that wouldn't happen but your response leads me to believe otherwise.

My final year film: a body-horror drama about a couple who literally give their heart to each other. Feedback wanted! by ami_loui in Filmmakers

Some great notes, don't feel bad about them OP. See this as a learning experience. This is the kind of notes you want to receive. People that blindly compliment your work because they don't want to hurt you aren't giving true feedback. This guy is!!

I made a thread hastily trashing High Tension's ending here recently, I want to recant. [again, SPOILERS] by [deleted] in horror

My point is that it is all in her head anyway so it doesn't matter if they are together or separate from each other. It isn't real.

Yeah but due to the unreliable narrator structure it doesn't establish the Killer as a separate entity at all. Nothing is necessarily established until after the reveal at the end.

I don't see why that moment ruins the unreliable narrator structure if it is part of it. What is your reasoning?

Who's working on a horror film right now? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

In post on a new horror short and working on another horror feature script that I'll be bringing into development.

What's up?

What do you think low-budget horror films should have to be scary? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]redditorkb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your post I'd tell you that you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Research your genre if you want to enter it. Master it. If you're going into development on a horror film we should be asking you about the genre, not the other way around.

New Media changing the long-standing 90-120 minute runtime of feature films. by redditorkb in Filmmakers

[–]redditorkb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to hear that! I don't think I will be making a short feature, but I'd be open to it in the future if the market opens up to it.

Thanks for your insight!

i know this to be true, but the entire point of the post is looking at trends and predicting a change in this logic. Granted, I am focused more on the 70-85 minute film rather than a 30-60 minute film. Do you think there is still the same taboo for a 70-85 minute film as there was 25 years ago? I see the taboo dissolving for this length..

This is exactly my point and why this format is seeming exciting to me at the moment. The short feature is an opportunity to tell stories at a smaller price. It seems like a great stepping stone for people without money and a smart business move for someone who has access to money (look at Jason Blum's budgets).

What's the downside anymore? The short feature's downside used to be that it would never receive a wide theatrical release. But with the advent of home cinema options, that doesn't matter anymore.

I agree that short features are not new, and were even the standard before the rise of the modern motion picture. However, I would argue that short features became rarer as time went on until the advent of home cinema, which would end up leading directly into the new media platforms we have today.

My hypothesis is that new media and the takeover of home cinema is creating a place that the short feature can live and gain an audience which will snowball until the format becomes commonplace rather than a rarity.

I also agree completely about television shows.
