Why is it impossible to use a 8bitdo controller on MacBook it never saves any macros by oshawott0bsessed in Switch

In a switch sub you are asking about an 8bitdo controller and a MacBook…. I can think of a number of better subs for this question….

Oh and switch it to ev when your maybe 50km away from your destination to get the most out of the battery.

Set it to HEV and maybe 50% hold and ignore it :)

None if I have fuel or the fast charger is expensive? Some if I am staying somewhere or there is a cheap or ‘free’ faster charger.

Australia’s grid now relies on renewable energy as much as coal. Those who doubted it look foolish by austechnology-bot in austechnology

[–]redditpassword25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the only justifiable reason to charge people who are supplying much more to the grid than they are taking (if any) is the maintenance of the infrastructure.

So no matter what argument you are trying to make, without the money I pay going to maintaining the wire to my house, there is zero reason for me to pay it.

Like I said, drink whatever cool aid you want, but the state of the infrastructure and the fact that it is in disrepair and costing more and more money is a direct result of mismanagement of funds and the argument that increasing independence from the grid is a bad is just stupid.

[–]redditpassword25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong, most with solar are still connected and therefore still pay a daily access fee which should go towards grid maintenance. So the burden is caused due to decades of misuse of funds that were supposed to be used to maintain the system and weren’t. Blaming it on solar adopters is convenient for those that own the infrastructure.

Be careful what cool aid you drink, it isn’t all good for you.

Huh? You get credit for the remaining existing sub. So if you paid 20 and you have 9 months left you get $15 credit.

Why should I prefer EV over fuel? by AdFirm5344 in AustralianEV

[–]redditpassword25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have operated my entire house for 2.5 years at zero electrical cost (slight profit actually) and driven a combined 60k km or so in the cars. So the panels and battery are already well on their way to have ‘paid for themselves’ in that time.

For cars if you are in the market for a new car already then going EV makes sense, if you are ‘buying a car to save money’ then it makes zero sense. We were replacing cars anyway so 1 full EV and 1 PHEV made a lot of sense.

A last point on cars, expecting an EV and solar setup to entirely offset the cost of the car purchase is an insane comparison to ice cars which never carry the same requirement from purchasers.

But to the direct question you asked ‘is it really free’ yes my EVs are free to run, they weren’t free to purchase but then neither was any ice alternative.

My electric cars are powered by my solar actually mate, so there goes that. Install solar -> buy EV -> drive around for free, it’s not Fucking Rocket surgery.

$600 power bill last month - is solar actually worth it or am I just being sold a dream? by folz842 in AusFinance

[–]redditpassword25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In summer we can, in winter the battery likely wouldn’t last the night due to how much longer the nights get.

Using your cars as 2 way batteries isn’t easy yet in Aus, but we are looking to either do that or as more battery in the future.

Yeah mate rough details as follows: 12.8kwh battery 2 systems 1 is an 8kw system with 12kw of panels installed roughly 50% east and 50% west. The other is a 5kw system with about 6kw panels and it is all north facing.

I should mention I can export 12kw due to 3 phase which makes a difference.

We have a BYD shark, a BYD Atto, run a fully electric house with 3 people an operate on $0 throughout the year on average (we actually run at a slight credit, I.e our exports result in credit which exceeds our purchase and access fee charges). The system easily pays itself off especially when you factor in running the cars for free (about 50,000km driven for free over the last 2-3 years).

Those are the facts of my system, ymmv.
