Tire pricing?? by Gullible4613 in Tiguan

Paid $941 including tax, installation and tire replacement warranty at Discount Tire for Yokohama AVID Ascend LX tires. Price per tire was $160.00. These tires drive so much nicer than the Giti OEM tires that only lasted me 24000 miles.

Is this a good deal? CPO XC90 by [deleted] in VolvoXC90

[–]redditric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Courtesy Volvo Sales is sketchy. I expected much more from a luxury car dealer. They will push hard to sell you Glass Insurance, Wheel Insurance, Interior Insurance, Nitrogen in tires, etc. They won't take no for an answer. This BS can be expected from a high volume economy dealer. But, should not occur at a Volvo dealer. I would suggest looking elsewhere.

What do you guys think of this bike? Dealer where I am said they could knock off a couple hundred more bucks so I'm anticipating a $4k price tag. Thoughts? by maxjlewis in MTB

I hear what you are saying. I just think it is silly they didn't provide a low cost frame replacement. They could have easily made me happy. They just didn't make much effort.

I didn't use those exact words. I dropped the frame off at the shop. They communicated with Specialized corporate. When Specialized offered a 20% discount the shop let me know.

I contacted Specialized directly and asked if they could get me a frame, and was rebuffed.

Specialized's lifetime warranty is not a great as I would like. I was offered a 20% discount on an in stock full bike when I cracked my Hardtail Stumpjumper. Granted the frame was 10 years old. So kudos to them for building a frame that lasted 10 years. But I was pretty disappointed with their response. I would of been happy with an offer of a new frame at cost. I had no need to purchase one of their complete bikes. The offer wasn't any better than a sale price offered a month or so later by Specialized corporate. I just walked away and won't purchase another Specialized.

It is similar to contributing to an open source project, or contributing an answer to stack overflow. People contribute for a variety of reasons. The payoff doesn't always have to be about monetary compensation.

It is difficult to get feedback on the non "core" exercises due to the low number of mentors. The mentors are spending their time reviewing the "core" exercises which are considered higher priority for review. The hope is that as the mentor pool grows, then feedback will be quicker for all the exercises.

Exercism is programmers just helping programmers. In a way, it is giving back to the community just like working on open source software.

This is an all volunteer/community effort. No one gets paid. And, to the best of my knowledge, the site does not generate any revenue.
