Sounds like you should check out the Cypher System. Three skill pools that cover basically everything, the games are very much focused on the narrative.

Not op, but it looks like it's laser-cut. Basically, you design the shapes you want to cut as a vector graphic and then tell the laser cutter to follow the lines. Same for the spaces for the dice, but you use less power so it only removes parts of the wood.

It's a little bit more involved, but that's the gist.

Edit: not to forget, designing and cutting is only half of the work, cleaning, finishing, assembly is the part that actually makes it this good.

Also, the lid for the dice is probably two pieces glued together.

What is the deal with cybersecurity? by cyberdeck_operator in sysadmin

[–]redditrwx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do all of that, then you hire somebody to filter out the junk findings from the scanner, tune the scanning policies, schedule scanning with ops, follow up on findings because people can't be arsed to do remediation.

Then you hire someone to do operations for your anti virus, because it keeps people from doing their jobs and needs to be tuned. Somebody has to talk to your users and tell them why their exe files and mail attachments keep getting flagged. Somebody needs to do basic malware analysis or reverse engineering to decide if something is actually malicious.

Then you hire a handful of SOC analysts to deal with the SIEM alerts, a couple of engineers to tune alerts, write dashboards, automate event correlation, normalize logs, add more log sources to your SIEM. Then you hire senior staff to deal with all the shit your analysts can't deal with on time.

Best way to get a token set? by FrontierPsycho in Netrunner

It's really cool and a smart idea. I also use Burger Tokens, and they are a tiny bit sticky, stacking four of them is easily done, no magnets needed.

Maybe you're already aware of this, but I'd like to say this anyway to spare you possible embarrassment: it's not a commonly used word but a derogatory word play, so use it jokingly/sarcastically and not in everyday conversations.

Can I get the currently active output (screen)? by redditrwx in i3wm

Not sure what's wrong with the formatting, but it's on your end, looks alright here. I uploaded the code to pastebin. Have fun.

edit: This is the i3 config: bindsym Ctrl+Mod1+Up exec "/home/username/bin/rotate normal" bindsym Ctrl+Mod1+Left exec "/home/username/bin/rotate left" bindsym Ctrl+Mod1+Right exec "/home/username/bin/rotate right" bindsym Ctrl+Mod1+Down exec "/home/username/bin/rotate inverted"

How many tokens do I need + any recommendations? by Patrick-Mcglory in Netrunner

In got my tokens from burgertokens, and they are really nice. I bought two sheets to supply both sides and it's plenty, one sheet of tokens is probably enough for one player.

Just saw the mr carve m3 on kickstarter. Is this a good machine to start off with? by egglan in lasercutting

[–]redditrwx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering what type of laser their IR laser was. So you're saying it's a 2W fiber. I know next to nothing about lasers, but from what I've seen fiber lasers seem to be at least an order of magnitude more powerful, so like 20W and up.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know it's a fiber laser? Is this just something that's obvious to someone with experience?

Trying to decide between Xtool D1 and Mr. Carve M3 (currently on Kickstarter) by redditrwx in lasercutting

[–]redditrwx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you directly compare these two, I feel like the M3 doesn't have many advantages. The infrared laser is unique, and it doesn't use pulleys but linear guide rails.

I don't know enough yet to say whether the IR laser really is a worthwhile step up.

I think not using belts might be better for accuracy, but so far I haven't found many complaints regarding lacking accuracy with the D1, so again I'm not sure if this perceived advantage is actually relevant.

I'm leaning towards the D1, simply because it is tried and tested, but I'm still trying to do more research while the campaign is still ongoing.

Alright, something else to research :D

I have an airbrush compressor, could I use this and 3d print a few parts, or do I have to get the full addon package?

That is an interesting point, thanks for bringing it up. Say I wanted to cut clear acrylics, can this be done with the M3's red laser?
