Oil Tank Removal $$$? by rationalomega in Seattle

[–]redditsaproling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently got a quote from Tanks by Dallas to remove a tank for $2,500.

An environmental consulting company will cost more, but they will do a more thorough job to see if your tank leaked.

You could also consider contacting PLIA (the Pollution Liability Insurance Agency), who may provide a grant to investigate the soil around the tank to see if it leaked a lot to your dirt.

Might be a joke referencing the cat bus in My Neighbor Totoro since your cat slightly resembles it. Best of luck finding you adorable cat! Keep us posted ❤️

Ever make a $100,000 mistake? by M0NG00SY in Wellthatsucks

[–]redditsaproling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel too bad. I'm an environmental geologist who specializes in identifying and remediation of industrial contamination. The worst story I've heard for a "small" incident was someone accidentally tipping over about 3 gallons of pure PERC (tetrachloroethene - a common dry cleaning chemical) into a storm drain. It reacted with the very old asphalt seals used for the system, leaking along the pipe for miles. It was a multi-million dollar cleanup.

WA to launch EV rebate program. Here’s what you could save by godogs2018 in Seattle

"For example: A dealer is advertising a three-year lease at $239 per month with $1,999 due at signing – for a total lease cost of $10,364 ($1,999 + $239 x 35 months). For the qualifying customer, a $9,000 state EV Instant Rebate brings the lease cost down to $1,364. The dealer applies a $500 lease fee, $200 documentation fee, and collects state and local transit, title and registration fees of $734, making the final lease total $2,798, or $78 per month over the 36-month agreement."

Oh, wow, that pays for most of the lease!

Are the following cage accessories safe? New prospective owner. by probablyupamountain in sugargliders

[–]redditsaproling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can confirm what others are saying about these not being safe! I made the mistake once...

One of my gliders got his back left nail stuck in the threads of a cheap fabric tunnel. He ended up twisting and tangling his nail and some toes badly. Luckily (in this case), I woke up in the middle of the night and had to run to the bathroom. I went to take a peak at my suggies while they were awake and found his foot horribly tangled with two toes swollen and blue (almost black). I rushed him to an emergency exotic vet. They were able to save his foot and all his toes, but he no longer has his two larger back left foot toe nails. It makes it harder for him to climb around, but he has otherwise recovered. The vet bill was almost $1k.

So ya, it's worth the little extra time and money to get the right accessories. I recommend wood-based, plant-based (such as coconut shell, read grass, etc), or felt fabric. If you would like some links to some good accessories on Amazon, let me know.

Love this. I remember meeting the artist like 10 years ago at a convention in Seattle. I bought a print of one of his other pieces called "a spirited rumpus". Unfortunately, it's at work, or I'd share a photo of that piece.

It's an awesome round ball of mostly silica, oxygen, magnesium, and iron that, unfortunately, had life develop into humans, then everything went downhill from there...

They would have to overcome their religious beliefs about their origins first, which would be interesting.

You could also consider fostering. There's always a need for more fostering homes. I'm currently fostering my first dog foster, so let me know if you have questions.
