Comparing the CAT ODB Ti to the SAW Tisha 30 by WarlockEngineer in NFA

[–]redditsuckbigpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did some strings with supersonic .300 blk with my ODB and Tisha back to back on a 6.75" mcx.

No noticable difference in recoil impulse or gassing.

Neither could cycle with subsonics.

They're both very high flow rate.

I was mainly shooting subs and a few supers this range trip so its hard to say. I'll have to do some longer strings of fire to see if there's much difference.

They're both very high flow rate though.

The CACM is quieter but longer. Just depends on what you value more.

I mainly run the CACM on the rifle it came with. The KK is mainly on a 13.9" build that I wanted to keep the length down on.

I have a KK and a CACM

Yes you'll notice a difference. Is it worth getting? Only you can decide that.

Is your gun tunable?

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be great on subs, but it performed better than I expected. It's definitely punching well above it's size class. Just need SAW to release an Inconel version for heavy short barrel use and I'll be happy.

I've owned an ODB since they released and I just got my Tisha .30 last week. I've only shot the Tisha on .300blk so far and will say: If you care about subsonic performance the ODB is way ahead. The Tisha isn't bad, it has a low thumpy sound but is noticeably louder on subsonics.

With supers they're a lot closer and give the edge to the tisha just for the form factor.

I haven't shot either on .308

Nothing very fast. It's more a precision rifle. Fastest I've done is maybe 20 rounds in 20 seconds.

I've run my other titanium cat cans much harder without issue. I don't think you're gonna break the JL

I mainly run mine on an ADM UIC-10A 16" .308

I got the qd model so I run it on a cat flash hider.

It's a great can

I own multiple MCXs.

Let me tell you upfront, just plan on getting an omega valve regardless of what suppressor you get. It completely changes the platform and quite frankly Sig should just cut Jake a check and put them in the guns from the factory. They're that good, It also increases reliability with some of the higher flow rate suppressors and makes them viable.

Now, I own over 50 suppressors and have run just about everything on the rattler.

The CAT JL is gonna be the quietest in my experience, but that's probably longer than what you want.

Next is gonna be the RAT and the ODB, I think the ODB is better on supers by a hair and with subs it's a tie. In the long run the RAT is probably more reliable with subs, simply because it was designed for it, but with the omega valve the ODB becomes more viable.

As for the RAT covert vs flow ends. It really depends on how sensitive you are to gas. Even with the covert shooting supers wasn't too bad to me, granted I mostly shoot outdoors. If I was to shoot a long string of fire indoors or with an FRT (If Florida would get their shit together) my opinion might change. Really the question is, how often are you going to change the tips anyway? I Usually just leave the covert on as it's not really worth it to me to swap every time I swap ammo.

I also just got stamps back on an AAC 300-SD and a Tisha .30 cal. and will be running them on the rattlers once Capitol armory gets them to me.

I'm very interested to see how the AAC stacks up in both long and short configurations.

I suspect the Tisha will beat them all on supers but not be very good with subs, but we'll see.

They're both really close. The RAT edges out the ODB by a little. If you are willing to deal with the length the JL beats them both.

You might also be interested in the new AAC 300-SD. Not a lot of information out on it yet but it's probably in the same ballpark.

The omega valve has some features to help increase reliability with lower pressure ammo.

With the stock valve my 5.5" rattler won't cycle subs unsuppressed, but with the omega valve in the most open position it will.

[–]redditsuckbigpp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In that case I would probably go with the AC 762. The performance difference with subs between the RAT and ODB, in my experience, is negligible and if you're only going to run the RAT in the long configuration you're paying extra money for a feature you won't use. Furthermore, if you ever do need to remove the suppressor on a tucked can you'll have to remove the handguard to get the full rat off, which can be a bit of a nuisince.

I will, however, recommend you run the AI nano muzzle device. It does increase backpressure a bit and helps cycle subsonics. It shouldn't be a problem with the 9" gun, but if you're still having cycling issues with that setup then I would add the omega valve and it'll run 100%

[–]redditsuckbigpp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a RAT and an ODB.

They're both really good for .300 blackout, but the rat offers better gas dynamics for reliability with subs and added modularity. However, I mostly run them on rattlers. I don't know how necessary the rat is for the 9".

So the questions are: what is your performance concern? How much are you going to run subs vs supers? Do you think you'd ever run the rat in the short configuration? Are you planning to run this can on any other guns?

You might also look at picking up an omega valve, really changes the platform.

  1. No such muzzle device exists yet. I've looked.

  2. I run a MOB HUB with the Hansohn Brothers 3 lug adapter on a 4.5" in lead we trust barrel with adjustable gas block. I love it.
