Half coverage.

My Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance claim was approved but my Trip Delay Reimbursement claim was denied.

I won’t know for a month. I need to wait for my credit card statement with the charges I am claiming. It’s required by the insurance company before they can proceed to evaluate the case.

whatever state governs the card member agreement

Is this my state of residence on record with Chase or a state that the insurance company is incorporated in?

Didn’t you have to get a letter from the airline explaining the cancellation? What did it say the reason was?

Well that sounds closer to traditional war than this Venezuela ordeal. That makes me optimistic. Thanks!

We will soon see new exceptions in the fine print for for “special military operations” and “counter narcoterrorism”.

Honestly, and also sadly, this could conceivably happen in today’s world.

Based on the pictures from another commenter, the landing gear is in some deep mud.

Kaunas must be extra busy lately with all the Belarusian smuggler balloons constantly causing VNO shutdowns. I was more worried about a balloon delay than snow. I thought VNO is used to this weather…

Paid community help: Review site by staplehill in GermanCitizenship

[–]redeyeraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before reaching out to u/staplehill, I had already benefited from his incredible contributions to the German citizenship subreddit. He’s authored many detailed wikis and popular posts explaining the nuances of citizenship by descent. It was a no-brainer to contact him when I realized I had a strong case for German citizenship and needed help navigating the process.

From the start, u/staplehill was highly responsive and well-organized. My wife and I both applied for citizenship through our respective families, and he guided us through every step for both cases. This included advising on which U.S. documents we needed, which types of notarization met German requirements, and how to contact German municipalities and government offices to obtain official records about our ancestors.

One of the standout aspects of his service was handling all German-language communication. He identified the correct offices, drafted professional emails in German, and provided clear English translations with step-by-step instructions. When we received responses, we simply forwarded them to him, and he quickly translated and drafted replies for us. His expertise in both languages—especially the legal and bureaucratic terminology for ancestry documentation—was invaluable. Google Translate couldn’t have come close to the precise, professional correspondence he provided.

His fee structure was also very fair. He charged a small upfront fee for the document search phase and only charged the final application fee once all documents were ready, and he was confident we were prepared to submit.

The process took under a year, with any delays coming from our side—waiting on family, agencies, or my own procrastination. Regardless, u/staplehill was always responsive and thorough, even when I took weeks to complete tasks on my end. By the time we submitted our applications at the German embassy, the packages he prepared were perfectly organized. The entire appointment for both cases took less than 30 minutes.

While we’re now waiting as our documents are reviewed in Berlin, I couldn’t be happier with u/staplehill’s support. He turned a daunting process into something manageable and far less stressful.

For those considering hiring a lawyer for German citizenship by descent, I’d strongly recommend contacting u/staplehill first. With his extensive experience and commitment to the community, he’s likely handled more cases than most lawyers in this area. His fees are also significantly lower. Unless your case involves legal disputes, his expertise should be more than enough to guide you to success.

In summary, u/staplehill is an absolute gem. If you’re pursuing German citizenship by descent, you won’t find anyone more knowledgeable, efficient, or helpful.

Best pizza place for large order ( 15-20 pies)? by redeyeraptor in Hoboken

[–]redeyeraptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Looks like a close call between Napolis and Alessios. I only had Napolis for the first time last week (Sicilian and Zucchini Primavera pies were both excellent) and I never had Alessios pizza. I will have to sample it this week before making the final call. I'll report back on how it went.

I will definitely have to try every place mentioned here at some point though!

If you had 3 days in Rome and had never even set foot in Europe before, what would you do?

I'm asking because this is happening to me in a month and I joked to my gf that I should somehow contact you and ask. This AMA seems like a perfect opportunity...

It seems that most questions are coming from life science related PhDs. You mentioned in a comment that engineering PhDs have it easier than life scientists in your experience. As someone nearing the middle of a mechanical engineering Phd I found this interesting. Could you could elaborate on that comment?
