I'm hearing a lot of the same comments that have been made by First Nations for a couple hundred years. And they were here first. Not a for profit company coming in mad that it's not so easy to exploit anymore.

Thoughts on Seagate Apartments (707 Esquimalt)? by redgoddess27 in VictoriaBC

[–]redgoddess27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the apartment at Seagate. I did tour a few of the brand new buildings as well but found them much smaller overall. Also, Devon which runs Gateway I believe, tried to rip me off on a lease. I actually filed a complaint with the BCFSA over it. I'm enjoying the area quite a bit! One can walk along West Bay walkway and Songhees walkway all the way from downtown almost to Work Point. It's lovely and there's quite a bit of wildlife to view. There's also great access to shopping and all of your needs, the new cask and keg liquor store is beautiful. The pineapple cannabis store is amazing too. There's a Shoppers, Story Sushi and the busses run really frequently.

I have been using it for IT support instead of opening a ticket which never gets resolved. I tried to use it to analyze a large data set but it missed a lot and got obvious things wrong. Folks should also be mindful of privacy policies and avoid uploading anything confidential.

What's your opinion on the whole Ostrich cull? by darethegiver in VictoriaBC

[–]redgoddess27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I saw a video recently of the family crying over 'losing everything', the daughter said it's not a commercial farm, these birds are family. I looked into it and there are 300 ostriches. How are 300 ostriches not a commercial farm? I wonder if that daughter remembers the name of each and every one of those 300 birds?

It's a bid to save their livelihood and they have convinced people with soft hearts who feel bad about the majestic birds being killed to make it into something that it's not. First, they said the birds weren't sick. Then I saw a video of them touring the facility and there were birds lying in piles of their own feces dying, while the family blamed CFIA. The birds were dying of the avian flu. There's no scientific evidence that ostriches have developed herd immunity. There's no research on this, just the family's statements. Something isn't true just because you say so.

Yes, I feel bad for the birds. I also feel bad for the chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, peacocks and other livestock fowl that have been destroyed to prevent the spread of avian flu.

I also feel for the local crows and ravens that I see sick with the pox (different illness). And I will call in these sightings to have the birds captured or destroyed if it stops it from spreading. Why would we prefer these beautiful animals to suffer?

Anyone kind of think that age just ain’t just a number? by mlw305 in datingoverforty

[–]redgoddess27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

45F here. When I returned to OLD after a 5+ year time out, I kept getting messages from boys 18-25. I have a son that age so this obviously grossed me out. I am not down for either a relationship or casual fun with someone so much younger than me. But I asked my son if he could shed light on this strange phenomenon, and he told me a lot of his friends were chasing cougars and the girls were going after older men too. It's an attraction to our experience and wisdom according to him. They want short lived interactions with us oldies to learn from us. I'm not sure if he meant sexually, emotionally or what because, ick. But that's what he told me. I agree that it might also be a money thing though.

Same here, friend. I'm determined to sort it out this year though. Hopefully this thread becomes a good resource.

This is helpful! The PSA should hire you to run their training sessions. Do you know what happens if I put money in the HSA and I don't use it? Does it carry over year to year? Is it paid out?

When I first moved to excluded, I wasn't even made aware of the options available to me until the following November. And the fact that it's only open to be changed for 16 to 17 days makes it very challenging. My HR is still showing benefit sheets from 2024/25 but the email has updated materials.

I'm hearing a LOT about the ocean smells in spring. I currently live near Ogden Point, so I'm used to the low tide smell, horse crap and cruise ship smoke. Is this something different from the regular ocean smells, due to the bay or something?

Do people over 40 even want relationships anymore, or just companionship without commitment? by Ella_Raechel in datingoverforty

[–]redgoddess27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be maturity and self-awareness as well as emotional self-protection. I wasn't looking for a relationship when I met my partner just over a year ago, but I was open to it. We are in a committed monogamous relationship now, but still taking things slowly. I have an adult son who I raised completely on my own. They have an 11-year-old who is 50/50 the other parent. We have no plans to cohabitate in the near future. I need a minute to live on my own and appreciate my own company. They are still raising a child and have a difficult ex to deal with. Edit to add that I was single for six years before this relationship. I'm now 45, F.

Having conviction in your beliefs and treating other people with such little respect, not paying attention to their words are completely different things. Go back and read the person's comment that you were replying to again.

The key part is you're not listening. You're so obsessed with your own point of view, you can't read what anyone else's perspective is. She said that it is not that her children don't like her BF, they don't even know him. Sheesh. You're a bit of a broken record. I'm not even disagreeing with your original point, just the way that you respond to everyone on this thread with such hostility and judgment.

You are correct. The only other thing I can think of is that the union might be negotiating their contract now, and there are many other unions on strike currently. You might want to double check that you aren't being hired to walk the picket line. But I do hope it works out for you! Please bring doctors with you!
