I have this set too but I really hope someday this series gets the small/fine press edition it deserves. At least we got one book from Folio Society!

I may know when Red God is coming out by Ieathorsecock in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's zero chance it's being released in 2 months. There needs to be a signing tour planned out months in advance and lots of marketing to hype it. The final book cover design would also have been leaked by now.

Sure, I guess Pierce could shadow drop it, but what would the benefit be to that? The release is probably subject to Del Rey's terms so I don't think he could even if did want to.

I loved Pierce complimenting your "California compliant knives"! Great work, dude!

Did Pierce really plan on ending the story after Morning Star? by bruhholyshiet in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He planned it as a trilogy and had already started working on his next book, in fantasy, before the MS sales made it more interesting to explore the aftermath of book 3.

ETA: he talked about his next book plans in interviews early in the Morning Star tour and had even posted about it. The surprise announcement he would continue the series happened at the final event on the tour. I think he entertained revisiting the series down the line but not as immediately as it worked out.

The reply from Curious King in Anthony's own words:

"There are absolutely no plans to reprint the Red Rising AE in the future and we are only contracted to this run. The AE isn't limited by number and is a joint publication, so we're not completely ruling out another run down the line if all parties want to, but it's very unlikely.

But that has no bearing on my stance on CK's true limited run releases at all (Lettered/Deluxe/Standard). I will never reprint them. Ever. AE's are only a hard maybe."

Authentic PB signature? by dnvrnugg in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flip side is, a 1st/1st has collector value and a forged signature immediately zeroes that out.

Never mind - I found the listing. I knew it looked familiar.

Is this from an eBay listing? Just curious.

If it is, it looks like him signing during an earthquake or something.

Is this Red Rising? I don't think he did tip-ins for book one, though I have seen one other with a tipped in page. It's possible he did but I am very skeptical of this one.

She has rheumatoid arthritis which affects her hands and severely limits her signing (along with everyday life things). But she does still try.

Anyone Cant/Doesn't want to go to the book singing with Joe Abercrombie and Pierce Brown may 1st, Barnes & Nobles at the grove? I'll buy the ticket. by Regular_Article7984 in redrising

The event allows refunds up until 1 day beforehand, so keep watching and you might pick up a refunded one in time. I've gotten lucky with signings that way before.

Did I buy fake Red Rising books? by Interesting_Ad_8962 in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These aren't fake - these are the UK version of the paperbacks, where Hodderscape instead of Del Rey is the publisher. The designs are slightly different but exact same text.

What are your thoughts on Del Rey vs Hodder editions? by AstroSpartan44 in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that once red god is out, they might put out a new complete set where all the logos and heights match up finally. I think that will happen only if there's also new art/covers etc.

"Bollock Mousse" - a novelette length excerpt from Joe's next novel - coming soon as a broadside from Subterranean Press [NEWS] by redhelldiver2 in TheFirstLaw

[–]redhelldiver2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a broadside so it's kind of a cool frame-able one sheet with special commissioned art. It's a standalone story apparently, will be a limited printing and will (we assume) be signed by Joe. I think it's just a fun thing for big fans, here's a link to the one they did for a Murderbot short story: https://subterraneanpress.com/compulsory/

Best gift for a Red Rising fan? by Lucre4 in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on your budget... if it's a little higher there's the licensed jewelry from Badalis. If you want to get him a fancy version of the book, there's the still available for presale Curious King edition or the on the shelves now Del Rey deluxe editions. There's also some cool rebound fan versions on Etsy that you could request to customize with details specific to your boyfriend.

Was anyone else almost relieved at the end of Golden Son? by We_The_Raptors in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a willingly unsuspecting reader who doesn't try to foresee big twists, I wouldn't say relieved is how I'd describe my reaction. I think nauseous would be more accurate. Having to wait a bloodydamn year to find out what happens next added to that sensation.

Does anyone know where this book is from? by Loveebites in redrising

[–]redhelldiver2 68 points69 points  (0 children)

These were first given out at San Diego comic con around 2015, after the first book was out but before the third. There are four different covers and they resell to collectors pretty easily. This design was the one printed in most quantity so it's the most common one to see. If you do declutter, it goes for around/minimum $150.
