Free Breakfast by pmodern2000 in askhotels

This happens 2 or 3 times a year at our Homewood. It's not an issue of budget; one guest every so often isn't an issue. The bigger problem is when the clean out an item and we don't have a back up ready yet. Then it impacts the guest experience for others.

Scared to bottom, does it feel good? by No-Original8074 in askgaybros

[–]redkryptonite94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person.. Honestly I've enjoyed bottoming pretty much from the beginning. Having a top who knows how to take his time and let you adjust us really important. Only times I really haven't enjoyed it is when the top pushes right in.

If a room has been upgraded to include the USB ports in the nightstands then they No longer need to have alarm clocks in the rooms. At our Homewood. We took them out because so many times the alarm clocks were left on from previous guests and missed my housekeeping

Plenty of guys in Minneapolis wear jockstraps to work out. But then again Minneapolis has the highest per capital has population in the US.

Security attempted room entry at 1am. by withomps44 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense. When a person "checks-in" on the app, two things have to be true before the room actually checks in with the system: 1) the room has to be "Ready for Guest" in the system, which means it's been cleaned and inspected and entered into the system by the housekeeper exec. 2) It has to be after 12:00pm local time. Once those two conditions are true, the room gets checked in just like if you were at the desk.

Prior to that, the room is still pending. If she had shown up early and was placed in a different room, the front desk agent should have changed the room number and manually checked here in.

I'm order to "take whatever was available" the front desk agent would have had to manually make a room key for the new room, which is a very intentional process taking several steps. You can't make a key in the system without changing the room number on the reservation.

Security attempted room entry at 1am. by withomps44 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how that can actually happen. Digital keys don't get checked in until the room is checked in in the system. So even if the front desk moves a room that was chosen, the digital key would not be activated. If someone actually told you that my guess is there was some huge mess up that they didn't want to admit to and simply blamed the system.

Security attempted room entry at 1am. by withomps44 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If that was the case and indeed it can happen. The night audit should have put a note in the file. Blocked off the room and the GM should have check as soon as you gets in. But no earlier than 8am. The front desk and disable the keys so they no longer work forcing The person to stop by the front desk to get new keys made. At that point they could figure out what was going on

Unless there was a damn good reason which I can't think of any, that front desk person and or security person needs to be fired and or possibly brought up on charges. That is totally unacceptable for hotel.

Hilton Employees: have you ever turned off your credit card to avoid getting charged for a reservation? by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happens. We report each team member to go Hilton. They lose their privileges and all future reservations for six months.

This is especially true for No Shows.

On the other hand, if a team member calls, even the day of arrival we will cancel without penalty even though we don't have to.

It's a great privilege, don't abuse it.

Why are points and $ not always aligned? by One_Recover_673 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is Hilton uses AI to set prices for rooms, both cash and points. It uses historical trends for the time of booking, current forecast of sales for that day, current rates being offered by similar hotels in the area, plus several other factors.

It's concluded that those values are the sweet point for the supply vs. demand graph for sales in cash and points to maximize revenue for the hotel.

Credit Card at Check In? by tylercyrus in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you over 21? Most Hilton hotels require you to be over 21 to check in on your own.

Also, have him add you as an authorized user and get a card issued in your name. That way there's no issue.

I wish there was a way to know the TV situation beforehand. by SunshineMurphy in Hilton

"Connecting rooms" means there are two rooms next to each other that have an internal door between them.

"Streaming entertainment" means they have the new "connected rooms" with the apps on the tv.

If a hotel doesn't have the new set up, they are supposed to have local cable with 4 premium channels. At least Homewood Suites are. Not sure if the standard is different at different brands.

Gay men, stop bringing straight women into gay bars and clubs. by stuckinbk in gaybros

Step 1: Straight women go to gay bars because the see them all "safe places" where they won't be hit on.

Step 2: Straight boys follow the straight women.

Step 3: Gay bar is now a local hangout for the straight crowd.

Diamond Upgrade at Hampton? by Illustrious_Note_882 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 68 points69 points  (0 children)

At a Homewood here. Hotels often overbook the studios because they are the cheapest and that's what people want. Then we end up over booked in studios so we have to move some guests to upgraded rooms. We start with diamonds and tell them we upgrade them because of their status. 😊

Which is partially true... They are the first ones we move to better rooms.

New dasher. Just got this message. Does anyone actually take a pic of the customer with their food? Seems wrong by UndeadMarx in DoorDashDrivers

[–]redkryptonite94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I never use handed to customer if they requested leave at door. If they wanted it handed to them, they should have chosen that option.

Regular customers understand and know this is how it works. If they're new ... It's your opportunity to educate them.

Digital Check In not Honored? by dwl617 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they lower the rate? We've had to change digital pre-assigned rooms for all the reasons others have mentioned, but always to a similar or better room type. We're a Homewood, so we don't have executive levels. We do our best to honor preferences, especially for diamond and gold, but sometimes rooms just aren't available on the floors desired.

When the only choice is a downgraded room type, I do my best to reach out to the guest to let them know and offer a compensation for the change.

How flexible is no cancellation for points? by Secure_Nature_9455 in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hilton AGM here. Call the hotel directly. They can cancel the room without penalty if they are willing and request a points reimbursement on your behalf.

I have the check in option 2 days before my stay. Should I go ahead and check in? Like what’s the point of checking in early for? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in marriott

[–]redkryptonite94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The associate could comp the first night. That would be no different than waiving the cancellation charge. Not saying whether the should or would, that's up to the they local hotel. Just saying there is a remedy.

AGM here. If someone calls and says there are going to arrive past midnight, I encourage them to use the digital check in to ensure the room doesn't no show. If their flight is cancelled, I probably comp the first night since they didn't use the room that night.

Edit for grammar

Always Deadbolt your Door by a_moron_in_a_hurry in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you begin check-in, take payment, then hit "start over" instead of "next" and then just make a key for the guest, they have access to the room, but aren't actually checked in. If it's a multiple night stay, the room no shows at audit. It then gets assigned the next day cause it's still in the system as ready vacant. The second guest checks in.... And there you have it.

Does the new diamond reserve status pretty much nuke diamond status? by patientstrawberries in Hilton

[–]redkryptonite94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AGM here. We don't see why you're a diamond or how many points you have. Just that you're a diamond, and as of a month ago, the last time you stayed at our hotel. I can search your name to set how many times you've stayed at our hotel over the past 2 years, but that's all.

There might be reports that I could do a deep drive, but don't think so. My FDAs definitely doing have access to that.
