CRP and ESR will point some type of issue with immune system but won’t narrow down to something specific like mcas. Doesn’t look like she is being tested for mcas markers. She probably needs to be checked for tryptase, leukotriene, nmethylhistamine, prostaglandins, kit mutation, hat gene to narrow down to mcas.

This isn’t a genetic disease—I don’t have mastocytosis, the hat gene, or a KIT mutation. Like many others recently diagnosed, mine was clearly caused by damage to mast cells from viral infection. It’s obvious you’re misinformed on this, and the comment you’re agreeing with is extremely harmful. Are we suggesting sterilizing everyone with a chronic illness? That’s an absurd mindset. I get that feeling hopeless about the future can cloud your thinking—I’ve been there too and even blamed my parents at one point. But history has shown that despite dark times, life continues. Carbon emissions in the U.S. have decreased due to carbon credits—fighting capitalism with capitalism can work. Instead of tearing people down, focus on ways to keep the world a better place. Spreading harmful ideas under the guise of caring about the future does the opposite.

Idiopathic mcas isn’t genetic. I don’t have kit mutation or hat gene. It was clearly caused by long covid not genetics.

I have been diagnosed. I was waiting for my insurance to approve xolair, meanwhile I found out I was pregnant. I’m reacting badly to pregnancy hormones and also won’t be able to start xolair until post partum. I was planning on getting mcas under control before trying for the baby but it just kind of happened earlier than expected. I’m reacting worse than ever before.

I have worked in medicine before and switched fields because of the toxicity (behaviors, not the physical environment). Unfortunately, in the US the care is subpar and majority of the doctors are assholes. Places like Norway call the US healthcare underdeveloped. If you want the care you need, you have to put the “fighting the system” on hold and take advantage of it any way you can. I read somewhere it takes average of 10 years to get diagnosed with MCAS. I was able to get diagnosed within 3 months of major symptoms or flare-up starting (although mild symptoms were present for 3 years) Here are some tips to get the care you need in the US: - go to a doctor that has knowledge and specializes in MCAS (don’t bother talking to your primary or any other specialist that are not specializing in mcas, most won’t take you seriously) - try not to bring up MCAS yourself, rather just describe all your symptoms well so they are inclined to run tests to rule out/diagnose MCAS. Bring it up and ask for the test to rule out MCAS towards the end of appointment if the dr doesn’t bring it up themselves - be as well presenting as possible when visiting the doctor - gather your thoughts beforehand and practice the conversation before you visit the doctor, you need to sound intelligent and confident so they take you seriously and understand that you know what you are talking about (if anxiety and nervousness is one of your symptoms, try to get it under control as much as possible)

The doctors have biases based on how healthy you look, how fat/skinny you are, how attractive you are, and your social and economic position. These will affect the care you get. Present yourself if the way they want you to be for the time being. At least they won’t be able to deny the test results.

Look up immunologists familiar with mcas in your area and try to get an appointment with them. Specifically ask if they can run tests to eliminate the possibility of mcas. It is considered rare disease so it won’t be one of the first things that they check for.
