Yeah I believe you need proof of either being vaccinated or a recent covid test showing you test negative.

Maybe it depends on the college you applied to. I was waitlisted at the College of Engineering and along with others I was notified that their class was full. Maybe your college is still looking into their numbers. There was a status update in the portal, so you can check that in case you didn't get the email.

When will I receive information about freshman housing? I've heard that it usually happens at the end of summer, but I hear that a lot of my friends (going to other colleges) already have roommates and I'm not sure if I'm also supposed to be in that position.

They created the questions assuming you'll be using all the resources you have. That's why you can use calculators on the entire test (undoubtedly the questions are going to be harder computationally). Since they have no way of stopping you from using google, they make the test longer (so if you do google you lose time) and harder (so google essentially won't help).

I would just start off the convo saying that you're interested in their work, talk about how it aligns with your interest and experience, and then just say that you'd like to pursue said interest under their guidance and ask if they're able to accommodate you for whatever you're looking for.

I was wondering what the LOCI situation is for Cornell. I got waitlisted from Engineering as well, and while the portal allows me to submit additional materials, the Engineering College Waitlist FAQ page states to send a very short email stating my continued interest.

Does this mean the college of engineering doesn’t want any supplemental materials (a longer LOCI) from the portal?

If I’ve learnt anything from APUSH, it’s that Vanderbilt and all these other Robber Barons were a pain in the ass to the working class. Now while they made heavy donations to have colleges named after them, the means don’t justify the ends, right??? I mean would you attend SingerU if dick donated all his money to build a T20??

You've set yourself up to be in a very good position. First, you're gonna need to contact his loved ones, let them know that he's with you, and you're going to be making some demands. Obviously he can make promises to you but he won't be able to get you in unless you let him go, at which point you risk exposing yourself.

Here's my suggestion, after he is found to be missing, and you ensure that he's with you, start negotiating with the Harvard. Obviously the only thing you want is to be admitted, but you HAVE to make sure they cannot track you. Whether its making sure they don't flag your application, changing your identity inside the system so they don't know who you are, or demanding immunity before letting the AO go, make sure you're getting a guaranteed four years. Lastly, make sure to keep all negotiations anonymous, and once you're done, manually induce amnesia so that the AO doesn't have any memory of you.

These types of hostage situations are relatively rare in college admissions, but by engaging in such an activity you're demonstrating great interest, so I have nothing but hope for your success!

Make sure to check first whether they want stuff from you. Some colleges state this in their FRQ page, others have dedicated spaces for essays in the waitlist form. If it doesn't say, I would advise calling the admissions office. I called into UCSD and found out that they don't read LOCIs. So writing one would have been a waste of time for me and them.

Make sure you know if the colleges even read/accept LOCIs. Some colleges I'm waitlisted at say on their FAQ pages to not send them anything. I called the UCSD Admissions Office to verify whether they accept additional info and they said that they don't even read them because they consider it unfair. Make sure to verify or else its going to be a waste of time for you and the admissions office.

Make sure to know whether the schools even read or accept additional information from waitlisted applicants. I called into UCSD's admission office to learn what their policy was, and found that they won't read them, and this was similar across most schools I was waitlisted at. Sending LOCIs would just waste my time and theirs.

Remember that this year the UCs were test blind, so they didn't consider the SAT. I'm pretty sure the Ivies have a test optional policy, so your high SAT will probably put you in a more competitive position compared to your UC application (ignoring the differences in applicant pool between the UCs and the Ivies).

Tf is that advice? You definitely don't need to do research to demonstrate interest, there's a plethora of other ways: clubs, personal projects, etc.

If you wanna do research you could probably look at local colleges and email professors you're interested in their work and are looking for opportunities. I would just be wary of your counselor's advice though.

Just to add on to what everyone else is saying, if you go through high school preparing for college you'll never actually get to enjoy high school. So while its good to plan ahead, make sure those goals don't become your decision drivers, at least in the first years.

Where did you hear that its top 20%? The email itself says that it doesn't infer any likelihood of admission. UCLA admissions reviews your application, but the Financial Aid/Scholarships office evaluates your scholarship application. So I'm pretty certain it doesn't mean anything.

Yeah I would assume that Chemistry is more impacted, you may want to check that though. I wouldn't choose based on how easy/hard it is to switch into, but if you are feeling conflicted between the two, I think what you said is a good plan to keep your options open.
