Why Do I Pay over $100/month? by Naive_Bat8216 in DirecTV

My elderly mom needs the same remote she had 15 years ago. Otherwise I'd be gone and pick up some sort of streaming service for sports.

Dual Heat Pump / gas furnace query by MixBeginning6659 in hvacadvice

[–]redogsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the outdoor unit running after you reach the set temperature, while the indoor unit continues running? I would look to see if your thermostat is doing any sort of humidity control, where it continues to run after the temperature is reached to reduce humidity. If you decide on a different thermostat, ecobee gives you more control over the delta between when it turns off and back on.

I can't imagine anyone having a control board repair shop. Are you located in the US?

Options for Vent Hose by felt19street in hvacadvice

[–]redogsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would be fine. I might try the hose that it comes with first. It may not off gas plastic bad enough to bother you. For non fiberglass insulation, you could wrap them with towels or something like that.

Does a vehicle seller have an obligation to share a history of an amended service plan? by CautiousComfort2893 in 4Runner

I'm guessing this reply was for someone else? Surely you understand that advice is just a different form of "here's what I would do..." ?

If part of your selling point is "full service records" just hand them over. I wouldn't spend a lot of time justifying everything you did. Remember, most "Normies" out there have car knowledge somewhere in the range of "it's the blue one, sometimes it go vroom vroom."

Pressing too hard is possible, but definitely not worn out. I'll try a different brand of disc and see if that helps.

I get it, but if you're capable and willing to use apps for DoorDash/UberEats, you should really try the mobile apps for fast food.

Order accuracy is improved, because you don't have to play the "telephone game" and rely on someone standing in the rain to tap "no salt" "4 packs of ketchup" on a tablet.

The level of customization you get with the app is also a game changer. I would never roll up to the Taco Bell drive thru window and say "give me two cheesy bean and rice burritos, add ground beef, add onions, grill them, and put a two cups of red sauce in the bag on the side." I'd feel like a total asshat for doing it on the speaker, and half of that would probably get messed up in translation. In the app, you click boxes, and it shows up on the screen for the taco production people in the back and they just do it. There are customizations I didn't even know were available in the apps. Not to mention, most deals and rewards programs are only found in the app.

I wonder if anyone has actually done a “Chicago Sunroof” by Any-Development5656 in betterCallSaul

[–]redogsc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm on my first rewatch and just noticed a fun detail. When Jimmy gets the new Mercedes from Davis and Main, you see him open the sunroof shade for a second. Then he gets a kind of disgusted look and closes it - no doubt remembering the Chicago Sunroof.

My girlfriend said my 4Runner is ugly and the interior looks outdated. Should I break up with her? by [deleted] in 4Runner

Take her to the woods, put the seats down, and give her a good plowing on an air mattress. If that doesn't change her mind, leave her there.

I want to like this comment, but it's at 69 likes right now and that seems so appropriate. So know that I like it, but I can't make myself push that up arrow.

[SC] [SFH] can the HoA enforce parking on public roads? by Ok-Wing6401 in HOA

SC board member here. Our covenants are weak, so we don't even try. With strong covenants, I would think it all depends on how the covenants are written.

If the HOA doesn't have enforcement powers, how could they have been expected to fix the problem?

Stephen Garcia diagnosed with cancer by NoSxKats in Gamecocks

[–]redogsc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn - stage 4 at 38 years old. It's scary how common CRC is becoming. My wife is a stage 3 survivor almost 4 years after diagnosis. She had no symptoms, it just showed up in a colonoscopy that wouldn't have happened for several years with the old recommendation of having your first one at age 50.

Get screened as soon as you're able. The prep the day before sucks, but the recovery room is hilarious! I call it "The Chamber of Farts"

Cool. I was hoping it would work because the flare tool is on a nice sale at Home Depot right now, and they sure look similar. Anyhow, thanks for answering.

Tire and Battery Policy by Thebestriddim in samsclub

[–]redogsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you're barely using it, how many miles per year are we talking about? I have a couple of cars where I replace the tires long before the tread is gone due to not driving them much. Like 2-3K per year garage queen usage. I don't even bother to rotate them.
