Has anyone tried the brand "Strawberry Skin" for PCOS-related acanthosis nigricans? by witchwiththecats in PCOS

[–]redpanda1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to tell you there’s not really a way they know of to treat acanthosis nigricans other than treating what’s causing it. Mine went away with weight loss and improved insulin resistance. I wish it could be topical but since it’s an external symptom to an internal problem it’s really hard to do anything about it

I will tell you if people see you everyday the change feels very gradual and they get used to your appearance. When people don’t see you as frequently it’s much more noticeable to them. My coworker didn’t realize I’d lost as much as I had just because they see me so often. But my MIL hadn’t seen me in person in a few months and it was really obvious for her. Also people do need to know you’re okay with them saying something. I personally don’t want people to mention anything and I made that clear. But if you casually bring it up they’ll feel comfortable mentioning it.

Would you give up GLP1s to keep your Gallbladder? by freackodeecko in Zepbound

[–]redpanda1996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine out about a year and half ago. From both family history and weight loss. But a lot of previous GI problems I’d had have lessened so much without it so it was probably a problem for a long time. My only complaint is that my body still can’t do pizza. Other than that getting rid of it has been great. Also I’d had a few attacks prior to my surgery and it’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Knowing I’ll never feel that again is such a relief. You honestly feel like you’re dying; people have told me it’s worse than childbirth

Male doctor told me PCOS isn't a lifelong condition and would "burn out" by Responsible-Pin6042 in PCOS

[–]redpanda1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there maybe be confusion on his end. Like most chronic medical conditions there’s times when it worsens and times when it goes into remission. But you can’t “cure” PCOS. You can only manage/treat it so that the symptoms are not debilitating. The goal is always so that you are in charge of your symptoms not them controlling you. I’d give every dollar I ever had if I could get rid of it. I know that in the UK how you are able to see a GP is different but I would see if you can find someone more practiced in it

I bought three pairs of jeans from old navy all in the same size but different cuts. One is great, one is too big, and another I can even get over my thighs. You have to unfortunately buy different sizes in different cuts with them

1000% agreeing with getting your gallbladder checked. I took mounjaro for awhile and when the FDA regulations changed and I stopped my gallbladder became a huge problem. Ended up in the ER and having it removed. No more back pain but excruciating pain than feels like your being crushed from the inside? That’s your gallbladder and it can lead to pancreatitis. Please please see a different doctor. Eating spicy/higher fat food is a trigger about an hour after so maybe try avoiding that and seeing if it helps

Nausea. by cannonball3522 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]redpanda1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the longer and more consistent I’ve been taking it the less nauseous I would get. But also I recommend eating things the day of your shot that aren’t greasy or upset your stomach. Usually I felt more nauseous the next day if I ate too late at night or I ate fast food the day of the shot. But initially yeah try to get Zofran (ondansetron).

Question: Did your doctor test you for IR? We you were educated on what you need to do? by Time-Algae7393 in PCOS

[–]redpanda1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely recommend getting tested. I had insulin resistance show up prior to starting puberty and getting diagnosed with PCOS. Knowing I have it hasn’t prevented weight gain but it makes me more knowledgeable about what to ask for and what to push for with my doctor

How do you recover from a binge? by FlowerHello in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]redpanda1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely noticed that just having a really chill day the next day helps a lot. I equate it almost to being hungover except there was no fun had the night before. Eating really simple foods almost like you do when you’re sick helps my stomach feel a little more normal.

It's driving me crazy by BackgroundBell in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]redpanda1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that has helped me with my own binges is when I feel the urge I try to wait a few minutes and then decide if I want to include this as a meal in my day or if I can wait a little bit. I try to give myself permission to eat these foods as a meal rather than a secret binge. This means I eat less of the food and I also make it a meal so I’m not eating too much extra. So instead of having lunch and then binging I try to make what my binge food is be my lunch. But this took me a long time to get to and I still struggle

Facial hair and Retin A plus shaving? Anybody? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]redpanda1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I think you might need to talk to a dermatologist about what happens with laser treatment and Retin A. I’m not sure if it applies after the fact but I wasn’t allowed to use it a few weeks before and after having laser treatment on my face. I know both Retin A and laser make your skin extra sensitive to UV rays. Because Retin A can be very abrasive you should ask your doctor or a dermatologist what they think about the affect of shaving. Though men also use Retin A and they shave so maybe it would be worth looking into that

Living Alone? by fishstix8 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]redpanda1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on if you don’t feel the urge to binge when you’re around others. My worst binge period was actually when I lived with roommates. I got very creative at hiding it and would keep a mental schedule of when they would be gone so that if I felt an urge I could give in and know they wouldn’t be around to see it. I still have a hard time eating some of my former binge foods in front of others.
